Sega-ages - will there ever be a Shinobi-collection ??
Sega-ages - will there ever be a Shinobi-collection ??
After the release of the fantasy-zone-collection I am still
hoping that a "Shinobi-collection" will be released by sega.
So - does anyone here speaks japanese and knows if sega
has such a plan ? Will the sega-ages-series continue on
PS 3, Wii or other consoles ? Speculations ?
The collection of course should include the three Genesis-shinobis
( Revenge of Shinobi I, II and Shadow Dancer), Arcade-versions
of Shinobi and Shadow Dancer and if Sega will be really nice to us
customers the games for the Master System and the Game Gear
and Shin Shinobi Den for the Sega-Saturn.
I wouldn´t mind if they forget the ( so called ) shinobi-games they
released for the PS2.
Jochen.

I have yet to play those, although hard to say if you could fit both on a disc...depends how much of the DVD they used for those.jochen wrote:I wouldn´t mind if they forget the ( so called ) shinobi-games they

Exactly the same thought occured to me. After the awesome Monster World and Fantasy Zone collections, a Shinobi collection would be pretty much the next logical step.
Shinobi (Arcade, Master System)
Shadow Dancer (Arcade, Mega Drive, Master System)
Revenge of Shinobi / Super Shinobi (Mega Drive)
Shinobi III / Super Shinobi II (Mega Drive)
GG Shinobi (Game Gear)
GG Shinobi 2 (Game Gear)
I can live without the Saturn game and I wouldn't miss Cyber Shinobi (in fact, I'd prefer Alex kidd in Shinobi World to be included).

I'm not aware of any info on future games in the series, and nothing has come out of TGS yet (I'm not expecting them to announce anything regarding the next one at TGS, it's too soon). I'd be all over a Shinobi collection though. Mmm, ninjas.

Both could be included; they're only SMS games after all.Herr Schatten wrote:I can live without the Saturn game and I wouldn't miss Cyber Shinobi (in fact, I'd prefer Alex kidd in Shinobi World to be included).
If anything I'd like to see Cyber Shinobi tweaked for framerate or remade (even if it's not especially remake-worthy - but I think AK in SW stands well enough by itself).

I asked this before the monsterland edition came out and heard nothing.
Sega shame themselves in so many ways its becoming a habit. Shinobi was one of the pinnacle arcade releases back in the day. I remember people watching the experts play it and it became a legendary game. I however was ashamed to play it with so many onlookers. 21 years on I want to play it so bad but I can't outside of buying the PCB (did that it came faulty) or LAME.
Another idea is to put all these games on PSN or PS3 Home a la Shenmue and whilst they are at it, they can put 8 way Daytona in there too.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I know I'd buy it. Outside of MAME there's never been a really arcade perfect home console version of Shinobi (PCE had a passable one...) or for that matter Shadow Dancer.
I heard they ran into issues with including Revenge of Shinobi in their collections (like the "SEGA Genesis Collection for the PS2 and PSP) because of the "guest stars" they snuck in... and had to pull most of them out in subsequent releases (Spidey got a copyright, but they changed Rambo, Batman, Godzilla and The Terminator) because they neglected to get any sort of permission to use them in the USA.
I'd sure like to have a first release of Revenge of Shinobi. Even when I had it back in the days I still had the bald Rambo version.

Funny thing is that Sega just put out a new Rambo game in japan, so they might have the right to actually include him now.Gunstar Hero wrote:I heard they ran into issues with including Revenge of Shinobi in their collections (like the "SEGA Genesis Collection for the PS2 and PSP) because of the "guest stars" they snuck in... and had to pull most of them out in subsequent releases (Spidey got a copyright, but they changed Rambo, Batman, Godzilla and The Terminator) because they neglected to get any sort of permission to use them in the USA.
