also confirmed that when I buy a DS (for Ketsui) I will buy an old one.
My first thought was WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO?

Then I read this:
"DSi software (software that is only compatible with DSi) is region locked, eg: European DSi software can only be played on European DSi consoles."

"Nintendo DS software however is region free so you can play any DS software on DSi from any region.
Ah, so the stuff nobody cares for will be region locked, but not the proper DS games. But still WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO.

What the hell? That's awful! That basically means all the software that takes advantage of any new functionality will be unplayable because it will be in Japanese.

WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO?!

Beginning of the end for the consumer love for Nintendo (which was always unwarranted anyway). Publishers finally got to them. From here on out, all Nintendo systems will be region locked; that's pretty much a certainty.

Not getting it, not even getting a Lite. My old Platinum is still everything I wanted it to be.

I’ll probably keep my old DS until it is completely unusable.

I'll be turning in my DS Lite since I already have a Micro. That said, my biggest qualm about my DS is its inability to connect to WPA (i.e. my) networks, so the solution seems obvious... (plus I don't have a Wii yet, and I really want to get a taste of the WiiWare/VC service in whatever form)

No I don't care about the new design, so I won't be upgrading. It cheeses me off that Nintendo keeps stripping down backwards compatibility-I love my DS Lite, but you can't play GB or GBC games on it, and now the DSi, which you won't even be able to play GBA games on it. It's ridiculous; how many of their hand helds do they expect people to buy??

There are GBA games that cost upwards of $20.00 at GameStop, and I can guarantee that a year from now, they, and other gaming retailers will still be selling these games.

No.

Most of my favorite games on the DS are GBA games, so there's no need.
