I have had the FFXI pack with the HDD for some time but still haven't found a PS2.

Needs to be new and also cheap enough, I say.

At this rate I might as well hold out for a PS3...soo...maybe in 2013.

Oh, I had forgotten why I wanted the original style PS2 with hard drive. Yeah swap magic ftw.

Doubt I'll format the FFXI HDD just to play other games though, I can find a dirt cheap HDD as it is (or even a faster one that should work).

I'm not too concerned about loading times on the PS2...in my experience, it's tolerable. *shrugs* Swap Magic seems like even more of a hassle than Memento, even after having to burn/patch imports. *double shrug*

Ah well. I shouldn't be spending money right now anyway and I still have MAME and doujins to tide me over for a while. :D On the other hand, I really want Gradius V. :(

It's not about the speed so much as about saving mah lazar.

Well, I'll certainly have to ask around when I finally do it as to the best disc-to-HDD installation setup. What's the best one right now?

swap magic.... folks still use boot discs these days, the horror.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

When/if your laser burns out, buy a new PS2 and stick your memory card (that has memento on it) in that one and you're good to go.

Heck yeah!! :D And plenty of other great RPG's. Really, you can't go wrong, whichever region of PS2 you go with. Like the NES, it's got something for everyone-including every shmupper. If you like traditional shmups, it's got your back, and diddo with bullet-manic shmups.

I agree, here are half a dozen masterpiece exclusives. :) The PS2 has literally hundreds of decent games though, very impressive. Pretty much anything that started off in the arcades or on the Dreamcast is very good.

Don't miss ZoE 2, Klonoa 2, Katamari Damacy, and Fatal Frame

One of these days I'm going to think about imports for my ps2...

Good that you mentioned Fatal Frame.
Started playing Fatal Frame 2 today and enjoyed it so far.
Not as scary as i thought, though.
But at least it's decent fun.

I suppose if you're leaving the acronymn all caps, and lower casing the plural s, then things are not ambiguous rendering apostrophe unneeded. RPGs could be accepted (I think... It could be taken as a mis-shift typo, making it ambiguous... Unless you take context into account), but rpgs could be confusing, making rpg's acceptable, as I understand the wiki article. An argument could be made, however, that in this case the apstrophe is just fine.

The idiot's apostrophe (according to the article) is when you use the apostrophe to pluralize normal things. "I took the dog's for a walk." Or things that can't be misread without the apostrophe "His power was in the 9000's!" Both of these examples are incorrect useage, and thus, "idiot's apostrophes."

Perhaps you should try reading your own link material, eh, Ceph?

Certainly not.

RPGs = nominative plural
RPG's = genitive singular (=of the RPG)
RPGs' = genitive plural

Quite simple and no ambiguity.

By the way, even if you used lower case, "rpgs" (nominaive plural) and "rpg's (genitive singular) wouldn't be confusing at all.

In other news, I secured a PS2 for $45! I think I'll try the Memento route first before doing any mods.

Gradius V this weekend. Productivity will reach an all-time low. :D

RPG's is a pluralization... so it is an idiot's apostrophe. I don't think it excludes acronyms.
