Oh, I had forgotten why I wanted the original style PS2 with hard drive. Yeah swap magic ftw.Never_Scurred wrote:Lol@ people worrying about wearing down the laser or the ps2 warranty.

Doubt I'll format the FFXI HDD just to play other games though, I can find a dirt cheap HDD as it is (or even a faster one that should work).

I'm not too concerned about loading times on the PS2...in my experience, it's tolerable. *shrugs* Swap Magic seems like even more of a hassle than Memento, even after having to burn/patch imports. *double shrug*
Ah well. I shouldn't be spending money right now anyway and I still have MAME and doujins to tide me over for a while.
On the other hand, I really want Gradius V.

swap magic.... folks still use boot discs these days, the horror.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I suppose if you're leaving the acronymn all caps, and lower casing the plural s, then things are not ambiguous rendering apostrophe unneeded. RPGs could be accepted (I think... It could be taken as a mis-shift typo, making it ambiguous... Unless you take context into account), but rpgs could be confusing, making rpg's acceptable, as I understand the wiki article. An argument could be made, however, that in this case the apstrophe is just fine.Wikipedia wrote:An apostrophe is used by some writers to form a plural for abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols where adding just s rather than 's may leave things ambiguous or inelegant.
The idiot's apostrophe (according to the article) is when you use the apostrophe to pluralize normal things. "I took the dog's for a walk." Or things that can't be misread without the apostrophe "His power was in the 9000's!" Both of these examples are incorrect useage, and thus, "idiot's apostrophes."
Perhaps you should try reading your own link material, eh, Ceph?

Certainly not.An argument could be made, however, that in this case the apstrophe is just fine.
RPGs = nominative plural
RPG's = genitive singular (=of the RPG)
RPGs' = genitive plural
Quite simple and no ambiguity.
By the way, even if you used lower case, "rpgs" (nominaive plural) and "rpg's (genitive singular) wouldn't be confusing at all.

RPG's is a pluralization... so it is an idiot's apostrophe. I don't think it excludes acronyms.Arvandor wrote: The idiot's apostrophe (according to the article) is when you use the apostrophe to pluralize normal things. "I took the dog's for a walk."
