So they don't even bother to show phone girl's ship in a 360 mag featurette? WTF?

I'm sure this is some kind of double entendre.

Is there actually a new ship? I thought there was just a fourth doll :? :?: :?

Remember, the game originally had 2 ships (A and B) and three girls (Shota, Lolia and Barely Legal).

its just a new doll (not a new ship), her laser seems to get wider as it goes along.. strange.. not sure what the shot type looks like.

Oh, you mean it spreads out… That might be very useful for beginners who mainly stay at the bottom of the screen. Not sure about chaining, though I guess it can be used to its advantage as well, having less distance to cover in order to connect enemy groups.

I wonder what are the downsides to this. Reduced power, perhaps?

Hitting stuff you don't want to shoot at the top of the screen that you don't aim at or in proximity to what you really aim at?

Yeah, that's the olny thing that comes to mind so far. Supposedly it can still be circumvented by various means, depending on the laser's divergence and the normal shot's properties.

They could as well show something new, unless the video was supposed to showcase at least the scale filters (which would be pretty moot with flash video, anyway). :\

I don't think they could possibly make the screen any smaller for yoko. Time to get myself a rotatable monitor, I think.

... done!

Gotta support the shmup movement on teh 360. :)

Though, I haven't played too much of DOJ, so, does the video on Famitsu's site look weird to anyone else? Like, the ship movement, bullet movement, etc?

It's the frame rate. Either it's the actual video, or the encoding job. If it's the actual game this will be the worst port ever.

Anyone else think the new art is absolute garbage?

it's the framerate and the compression. that said the graphics look a bit sharper than the ps2 port. might just be the full screen being shrunk down to a postage stamp messing with my eyes though.

yes

still, I haven't seen any in game shots using that art so maybe it's just gonna be in the manual ect?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yessssss... I sure hope they don't have shitty art in my danmaku shooting game - story, don't fail me now!

Anyway it looks good. I will probably get it even though I'm not big on games that punish you for the tiniest mistake in scoring.

Anything new you'll probably only see in the 'X Mode' of the game. The ports would be expected to be perfect ports with no alterations except the wallpaper for non-Tate and the anti-aliasing filters.

Excuse me but.. what are the differences between Black Label and regular DOJ? Don't tell me it's harder.

It's finer tuned for scoring. Chain counter is raised to 5 digits (counterstops at 9999 in White). Extends are transferred to the second loop if you reach it. Hitbox sizes of A and B ships are swapped.

Also, what I've gathered from others' comments is that rank has a smoother curve with easier minimum and harder maximum, making it scale to one's skills better.

In other words, it's a better game for basically any purpose.

anti-aliasing filters
I really hope they let you turn that shit off... this will kill the port for me.

I plan on running this through my emotia via VGA 480p then to my tate'd SONY PVM.... this way it's back in true low res and tate'd.
