haha - stupid rrod.

Different strokes and all that. I'm still trying to figure out why Half-life 2 has so many people lined up to beat off over it, and why people bitched about windowless buildings with no lights being "too dark" in Doom 3.Dremark wrote:Agreed.kengou wrote:After how completely average/boring the first one was I don't really understand why everyone's excited for the second...
I don't think I'll ever understand what people see in that game.
I'm pissed Condemned 2 isn't coming to PC, though.Carmack explained that he found some of the complaints of Doom 3's brand of horror to be "completely valid," saying that the "contrived nature of monsters hiding in a closet" and the extreme darkness were two things that caused the company to cancel its game Darkness and begin production of Rage.
Wow.... I hadn't realized it was that close.... looking forward to it.
to everyone else I'm excited also.... more run and gun in 3rd person is ALWAYS a good thing to me. and if you played this when it 1st came out it was an amazing feast for the eyes... still not to shabby now even.
that's cool to know....After how completely average/boring the first one was I don't really understand why everyone's excited for the second...

A cool story, interesting characters, great visuals, flawless voice acting, solid gameplay, well-balanced difficulty... HL2 does everything right. The Coop wrote:I'm still trying to figure out why Half-life 2 has so many people lined up to beat off over it
(except not having a Mac version, which forces me to dual-boot)
you know it gets so old hearing folks cry over this, just don't wear the headset or if you MUST talk to folks play with friends you all ready like. That's what I do.... but then again I have a sense of humor over the retards on live and just laugh or say something back unexpected. Can't wait to be told to lick some guy's balls on Live. Again.
I may take you up on this sometime, so long as it's free.GaijinPunch wrote:Just get Skype. I'll say that to you whenever you want.
It's a legitimate complaint though. I don't wear a headset so I'm forced to hear their crap through my speakers. Thankfully I don't play on Live very often, although that might change soon. I hope Gears 2 will have an option to filter rooms to certain regions, or only joinable for people under x ping. Ever seen a glitchy Gears player? Jesus fuck.Strider77 wrote:you know it gets so old hearing folks cry over this, just don't wear the headset or if you MUST talk to folks play with friends you all ready like. Press the Guide button on your 360 controller. Personal Settings > Voice > pull the volume slider all the way down and check the Mute box. This is how I always have it set since I can't stand listening to people's bullshit.Elixir wrote:It's a legitimate complaint though. You're really missing out on those online punch-fests.Ed Oscuro wrote:I'm pissed Condemned 2 isn't coming to PC, though.

I'm pretty sure it won't. But they're supposedly improving host advantage issue and hopefully with the new matchmaking system, host will be selected by connection speed for everyone's sake. This was the number one issue with Gears online. As for glitching, that will always be an issue with a game this big. It's just an inevitable thing when so many people are playing it.Elixir wrote:I hope Gears 2 will have an option to filter rooms to certain regions, or only joinable for people under x ping. I'm really looking forward to Gears 2 as well. A refined online experience with tons of new content is perfect for this installment. I'm glad they didn't try to completely reinvent it. This with Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead are just too much to have coming out all at the same time.
Extremely convoluted does not equal a cool story. Gordon is also an extremely dull character and some of the parts involving vehicles feel like a total ripoff of other games albeit done half assed.Stormwatch wrote:A cool story, interesting characters, great visuals, flawless voice acting, solid gameplay, well-balanced difficulty... Now back to Gears 2: I look forward to being called a faggotspicnigger again.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out when I get my 360 back from repair (or if someone I know gets me a Japanese 360 sooner, whichever). Though I have noticed something strange with one of my controllers. Even though I don't have a mic plugged in, games still say that I do. The little mic box next to my gamertag claims that my mic's working. Also, all sound goes directly to my controller, and I hear nothing. Is this a setting as well?Daigohji wrote:Press the Guide button on your 360 controller. Personal Settings > Voice > pull the volume slider all the way down and check the Mute box. Lordstar- I made it for a post a few months back on another website I visit. Took about five minutes, and this is only the second time I've gotten to use it (I just stumbled across the post here and remembered it). So I wasn't really sitting on it, it just got forgotten about until I read that postTurrican wrote:That's awesome, Coop!! Turrican- Yep

Might rent it. First one was fun enough, but nothing groundbreaking whatsoever.

Fair enough. Obviously there's some reason why people like the game, but I was unable to see what it was. I also didn't see what people saw in Half Life 2, but i've never been much of an FPS player. The Coop wrote:Different strokes and all that.
