The sound used during a target lock on in Iron Man's heads up display is the sound of the laser cannon firing in the original Space Invaders game.

can anyone confirm this? i saw the movie just recently and this didn't occur to me (and i think i know the sounds of SI pretty well)

this movie is great in so many ways (imho) and this would make it somehow even cooler

Yup, I noticed it too.

There's also that Robotron Hi-Sc screen at the beginning of Crank. Comes on as a blip. Wording changed to: 'Highest Scoring MotherFuckers'.

Also, take a good look at the icon on the men's restroom door in the film Crank and tell me that it's the famous sprite taken from the classic Berzerk arcade game. Such subtle visual nods to classic arcade games is the way to go. ^_~
