Which to mushi futari to choose? 1.0, 1.5 or Black Label?

Hi guys,

Curious which version of mushi futari you would recommend? 1.0, 1.5 or black label? I'm not sure of the differences but can only afford one.

1.5 or BL. Personally my favorite is 1.5.

1.0 is almost impossible to find now, and it's a lot of fun, but I wouldn't recommend it over the other two.

If you can afford Black Label, go for it. If you want to save $300ish, get 1.5 instead. Fujita's current price on both is probably the best you'll find.

Worth mentioning: BL is the only one that has 3 playable difficulties, so it's a nice return on your money. Ultra just makes my ass pucker.

Ultra would actually be the only mode I could enjoy.

Ultra with the BL characters (=super strong) and the BL Original mode's proximity effect would have been so awesome. Maybe toss in Suicide bullets too. They should have just done Original, God and Ultra on BL. Maniac BL is fun, but I think 1.0 and 1.5's Maniac modes are better (1.5>1.0>BL, for Maniac). God mode is about the same difficulty as 1.5's Maniac anyway.

agghh now I'm totally cornfused, heheh. Seems each group of guys I respect have differing opinions... I may have to check the top 5 cave games thread over at EOJ's excellent site to see which person's taste most closely matches my own. Does BL god mode have an autobomb feature when you get hit?

black label easily, God mode is a blast, best cave have done for a long time.

ultra is just too hard for me, it is really really hardcore.
original mode is the best in BL aswell.

I think what's great about BL's maniac is that it's a great mode to enjoy when you don't want or can't devote much time to the game. It's very easy to score at, there is very little to memorize in order to survive and score "decently". More so than 1.5's Maniac because if I'm not mistaken, you need to chain enemies a lot better if you don't want your blue gauge thing to deplete in this version. But if you're going to dedicate yourself to the game a little... => 1.5. Unless you like harder than Maniac but really can't imagine handling Ultra then go for BL God ! >.<

No autobomb, thankfully.

After owning and playing each of the games extensively, here's how I'd rank each of the game's 3 modes, as well as my overall ranking for the games:

Best Original mode
1.5>1.0>BL

1.5 wins due to its fun scoring, game balance, and a smooth rank increase. 1.0 is a very close second with its great overall challenge, superb bullet patterns and fast bullet speed. BL is fun and has the deepest scoring system, but it's too easy if you ignore score, and ridiculously hard if you go for a good score (1.5bil+). It also requires constant quick taps to score well, which quickly makes your joystick wrist sore.

Best Maniac mode
1.5>1.0>BL

1.5 wins for its wonderfully balanced, deep, and endlessly fun scoring system. 1.0 comes in second due to its great challenge. BL has the most scoring, but comes last due to its dumbed down difficulty and sped up boss battles.

NOTE: This is probably the closest of the rankings, I love all three of the Maniac modes quite a lot.

Best God/Ultra mode
1.5>BL>1.0*

If you suck at Ultra you'll obviously find God to be more enjoyable. It's hard to top the rush you get from advancing in 1.5's Ultra mode, though. It just requires a lot of work to get decent at it.

God is a flashier 1.5 Maniac mode with more bullets, a larger multiplier, and a nice proximity effect added. In terms of difficulty, it's not nearly as hard as 1.5's Ultra. In fact, 1.0's Maniac is harder than God mode.

OVERALL:
1.5>BL>1.0

1.5 is first, and I put BL second over 1.0 because overall the BL Maniac+God combo is just a bit better than the 1.0 Original+Maniac combo, particularly if you like a lot of scoring.

Honestly all 3 games are awesome, and when I rank the different modes I'm really just going from "Super awesome>Awesome>great", rather than from "good>bad".

*I haven't played 1.0's Ultra, but based on what I've read and the short footage I've seen, I'm confident to put this in last place.

^ About 100,000 yen at Japanese shops. Cheaper on YAJ (when they pop up). I never really see bare boards for sale on western forums, just kits that go for around $950-$1000.

Yes, shorter. They just sped up the bullet patterns and increased your firepower so the boss's lifebar goes down really fast.

Yes, you're poor. Enjoy it now, b/c once you get a real job and (gulp) a family, you will long for the days you could wake up, smoke a bowl, and just sit there.

@ Boss Fights

They speed up the bosses as well. Their time time you can sit on top of them and suck up gems between life bar sections is reduced. Found that out the hard way.

i for one welcome the shorter boss battles, there is nothing more boring than milking a boss for the 9182737th time

in BL they are just perfect, you can make a nice chunk of score from them without them being tedious at all.
2nd boss in 1.5 is broken as hell

The first phase of the ST2 boss in Maniac is pretty broken in BL - the bullet patterns are a sloppy mess. Also FYI good BL scorers milk the Stage 2 boss the same as in 1.5, just with one less loop on the second phase.

Best ST2 boss in Maniac is in ver 1.0 - no milking, and perfect patterns & speed.

I normally find boss milking to be tedious and boring, but I must say that I really enjoy milking the stage 2 boss in 1.5. I find it to be the most entertaining part of the first two stages, personally.
