It may well make it to the US, I'd have thought. Sega are still releasing games for the PS2 over there - Yakuza 2's coming out next week - and the only reason that TFV didn't make it out of Japan was because of the royal fucking mess the company was making of the Saturn everywhere else.

Hello everybody!...I'm new here... :?

I just cannot wait for THUNDER FORCE VI !! ...I'm waiting for this moment since 1998 more or less ! My only hope is that this 6th "episode" will be a great one, and not only a "business plan" for the SEGA money counters...

By the way, can anyone tell WHO is developing the game? Is it SEGA or TECNOSOFT ?

(maybe you guys already answered to this...please, don't make go back to read the first 12 pages)

It's made by Sega, kinda.

The director of the game(who is from Sega), is the guy who directed Gunstar Super Heroes, Astro Boy, and Sega GaGa.

He's pulled together his own freelance team of programmers who have a lot of shooter experience, so he says.

Things look pretty promising.

I know how you feel :)

Fans should be happy if it's just a "good" one, which it looks to be

If we keep our expectations reasonable, and just buy and enjoy the first new Thunderforce chapter in more than a decade, it will allow this to be a successful reboot of the franchise... allowing for potentially more Thunderforce sequels with infinite possibilities (think TF7 or TF8 in 1920x1080 HD) to follow.

(Not forgetting also that the fate of Sega's "STG Project" rests in part on how much TFVI sells.)

I too have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and i hope i dont get disappointed.

I just hope it gets released in an English speaking country, I dont want to import a japanese game and a japanese PS2.

I actually started up a petition to get it released in the UK or america, but that died out pretty quick lol.

NCSX and Play-Asia have taken in pre-orders for quite a while and the release date is Oct 30. Two months to go.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

FUCK.

YesAsia won't let me cancel/refund my preorder for Ketsui DS, all because it's a game (and games are not refundable).

It hasn't even shipped out, FFS. Now I'll have to delay getting TF6 for a few months.

As great as I think TF VI will end up being, unless you're really into Psikyo or Cave shmups, I don't know that a J-PS2 is worth the money.

Just mod your existing PS2, dude. SwapMagic for the win.

I guess you didn't get the memo that Thunder Force V was ported to the PS1 and released in America.

OK-I'm in United kingdom so I would I be better off ordering Thunderforce VI from Play-Asia or NCSX?
The pricing 's similar but I'm wondering about shipping times, postage rates etc :?

As long as you don't use UPS, you won't have any problems with PA.

PA have a tendency of marking their packages with the full value but NCSX are a bit more relaxed.

Thunderforce VI Wiki is updated with story and gameplay info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_Force_VI
It is the year A.D. 2161, ten years after the artificial intelligence known as Guardian went rogue and its subsequent destruction at the hands of Cenes Crawford, the pilot from the events of Thunder Force V. As Earth reenters an age of prosperity after the previous war with the AI, an extraterrestrial force known only as "Orn Faust" appears to start an invasion of the planet. Unfortunately, the United Earth Fleet is powerless under the might of the alien forces and is almost destroyed. Meanwhile, the United Earth government receives strange readings from its analysis report of the underground chamber where Guardian was once installed. Inside, the Vasteel technology which was abandoned and sealed by the government shows a startling syncronization with Orn Faust's approach.

As researchers analyze the once forbidden technology they had abandoned ten years ago, they find an alarming message embedded within the fragments. It is said that Vasteel was once Rynex, the ultimate weapon created by the extraterrestrial power called the Galaxy Federation, used to combat the evil Orn Empire. The message also contained a warning of their impending arrival and an interstellar call for help against the Orn forces, which is trying to spread its influence of death and destruction to other parts of the universe. In addition, the storage cells within Vasteel material contains four space coordinates leading to the homeworld of the Galaxy Federation. Left with no other choice, scientists recreate the Vasteel technology into the experimental starfighter known as Phoenix, the last hope for the human race against Orn Faust.
Woohoo! Nice continuation of the storyline. :) However can't wait to see how gameplay works.

Judging by the vid, the bullet patterns are more modern, TFV was a bit dated with the 16 bit bullet feel. The music remix from the previous versions is very welcome, as well as wailing guitars from V. I think cave players will be tough to convince if all they like is score and chaining. I never looked at the score, i only cared about not getting hit. See ya at the end of Oct.
