Forum dispute results in real life death!

Post by OmniGLH »

I imagine there are others here who enjoy Advance Wars.

http://kotaku.com/5055079/man-arrested- ... rum-murder
A German gamer has been arrested near Frankfurt on suspicion of involvement in the death of a British student, Matthew Pyke.

The unnamed suspect is believed to have had a disagreement with Pyke on Wars Central - a forum for fans of the Advance Wars series that Pyke moderated.

Police allege that the 21 year old man traveled to Nottingham, UK, and gained entry to Pyke's flat where he stabbed the 20 year old student to death. Pyke's body was discovered last Friday by his girlfriend, also a site moderator.

Over a DS game

I mean that's embarrasing.

Aw, too bad. I'd love to see what was that all about.

hmmm a brit, and a german on a forum with war in its title

never a good combination

i bet at least one of the poor guys posts involved

"dont mention zee voor!"

or

"two world wars one world cup doo daa doodaa!"

both funny in the right place but not worth getting killed over

my thoughts go out to the guys family though, so far it seems to be such a petty thing to be murdered over, a videogame

When I saw "travelled to Nottingham, UK" as I was scanning through the article, a little shiver went down my spine

Like Mr Pyke, Heiss was a keen player of the on-line computer strategy game Advance Wars.

That makes a lot more sense.

I mean, really. What argument could require murder to win. "Helicopters are better armor than tanks?" "The faux-German country sux!"

Nah, there's a difference between a game that features online multiplayer and an online game. Besides it never saw a release for the PC, which renders it a videogame instead of a computer game :P

Waiting for an ED article, maor info will likely surface there.

On a more serious note, it's pretty tragic and makes me glad I halfass every mod job I have.

This is just a man's opinion, but it seems to me the guy's g/f wasn't worth killing for, so to speak.
