Lead-free solder sucks.
Seriously. So much harder to work with. All my company's products are now lead free, but I do mostly prototyping which shouldn't be going to a customer anyways, so I revel in still using leaded solder for "engineering work." :P

Sounds like the problem is not enough games on the wish list!

Haha, yeah. There's a bunch of games I'd buy for it but I won't have enough money to do so if I cough up $500 for a Supergun. It isn't actually that bad of a price when I consider how limited I am on my options. Can you elaborate on the AV7000, 9000TB, controller, and Jamma Harness?

Ideally, I want a Supergun which will allow me to play all JAMMA boards and has a Saturn (or PS2) output for controllers. Oh, and RGB plus composite.. I'm not much of a stick person, so I would really prefer if this all set up and ready to go with Saturn pads. I'm not really tech-savvy when it comes to these sorts of things.

If you could let me know just exactly what I'd be buying (with pictures) then I may even deal with you. I'll need a week to scrape up the money though. $500 would be my limit though, it's absurd that I'm even considering this in the first place.

There's quite a few threads in the HW section on it. The AV7000 is very small, but very heavy. The 9000TB (the controller) is metal casing, with Seimitsu stick & buttons (standard Japanese layout). The harness is made by a 3rd party shop, but is just standard Jamma stuff. One end into the AV7000, the other end on the JAMMA board.
Ideally, I want a Supergun which will allow me to play all JAMMA boards and has a Saturn (or PS2) output for controllers.
You're kind of fucked here. Sigma *used* to make not only a Playstation cable, but a Saturn cable as well. You could use your 9000TB (which is a great stick, mind you) on either. They quit making the Saturn cable ages ago, and Playstation cable just last year. I only have one, so I pray to God it doesn't break.
Oh, and RGB plus composite..
AV7000 supports composite, RGB, and S-Video.
I'm not much of a stick person, so I would really prefer if this all set up and ready to go with Saturn pads.
The only real way to use Saturn pads on your gun will be to build some type of converter. The input is a 13-pin DINN (total ass whore to solder to, but I'm sure someone here can do it) and uses 1 lead for each direction/button, plus the ground. In other words, you either gut a pad and solder leads directly from the PCB, or you program a small PCB and make a cable (much harder--I'd buy one in a heartbeat if someone could do it).
If you could let me know just exactly what I'd be buying (with pictures)
AV7000, 9000TB.

Again, if Saturn pads are a must, you'll need to talk to someone about that. I'm a stick guy...my issue is not being able to play the stick on my other consoles.

All we know is 2008. This is torture. Last night I cut the word Ketsui into my chest and bled myself to sleep.

Prob best to wait 'til it's out in Japan before thinking about that.

There's no news on this.

I went ahead and bought a Sigma off GP seeing as how all the previous 360 titles have had flawed shmups. I have a JP 360 too, but judging from what I've experienced with the games.. it isn't paying for itself in that genre, especially when I'm having more fun with other games. (That were built for the console, not ported to it.)

No Ketsui in sight. Maybe they're having problems with it, kinda odd that DOJ BL is dated but Ketsui isn't...

Companies typically like to stagger their releases so they don't stifle sales. I wouldn't expect a date for Ketsui to be announced until DOJ BL is released.

That's right. Strange. I got mine for around $300. Worth the price, imo.

It is roughly $200 in Japan. But PA is not in Japan, they have to import them to Hong Kong (shipping costs), then they have to make a slight profit, so you get a $70 markup. They sell Wiis for $300, even though those are $250 in Japan. Same story. You can't find a JP X360 for cheaper at any other online retailer.

GaijinPunch here seems to be able to hook up people with new JP X360s for $220 + shipping. I don't see any better deal than that, so drop him a PM if you're interested.

Lol, nice to see you here, Casper. Ran away from DeathSmiles, didn't you?

That aside, seems like we'll be having quite the BGM choice this time around. If I understand correctly, there'll be arcade version (mono), master arcade version (stereo), arrange, and 5.1 version (don't understand if it's for arcade, arrange, or both). Also, new track by Namiki for title screen music (nice touch!).

[EDIT]
Oh shit, autotranslation tells me there will be a completely new game mode called "X mode", aimed at beginners. It seems it's basically the same as arrange modes in other ports released so far. Fucking sweet!

moozooh, I'm not sure about that translation. Seems more like "even though there won't be 5.1, there will be stereo and mono versions of the music from the arcade version and an arranged soundtrack" to me.

EOJ mentioned that there'd be new modes for beginners in both the Ketsui and DOJ BL ports a month back—seems like phone-tan was created specifically for the arrange/beginner mode, which is kinda cool. There are no screenshots of her shot or ship though!

I'm disappointed to hear that HD mode is no longer in the works. I don't have an HDTV and am not so fond of vector graphics, so I probably wouldn't have taken advantage of it—but it implied that 5pb was putting a ton of effort above the norm into these ports ala Arika. (only, y'know...less aimed at arcade-perfection.)
