Only if there was such a rental business that catered to renting out such rare and expensive arcade PCBs, I'd patronize it in a heartbeat. But in reality, no such working business model of "Shmup PCB Netflix" exists today.

It's either one bites the bullet & pay through the nose to splurge on the latest Cave shmup PCB kits or just wait patiently for the prices to slowly go down and then make that decision. ^_~

They all watched that.
Wow! I'd not seen that before but it's amazing. Too much to say about it for one little post. Never have I seen such a conflict of passion and a seeming complete lack of enthusiasm.

Who could disagree with those arguements? I'd better smash up my diminutive Cave collection right now! Apparently I should be playing something else....

What sort of prices would you be willing to pay?

I also think it's no bad thing that so many of these awesome shooters are changing hands recently.

There really has never been a better time for a virgining Cave-fan (like myself) to pick up some of these absolute gems @ not so bad prices.

Whether it be the credit crunch/recession or not, i dunno? But i'm sure it's not just me that's benefiting from this current urge some people are having to sell-up? :P
Just a couple more shots.........

Isn't it somewhat of a hassle to get a hold of some of these boards in the first place? I can see selling it if you are done playing it, but if you are selling it in hopes of buying it back later, why not just hang on to it? Some of these games you only see once in a great while on a very small number or forums. If you're someone like me that's pretty much the only place to get a chance to buy them.

Cave fanboys finally coming to their senses and realizing the games really aren't worth $800+? That maybe they could get a 50'' HDTV or take a nice vacation for how much the remaining fanboys would gladly pay for a circuit board?

Just a thought.

that points a bit void really, as a $800 HDTV you couldn't sell a year later at near enough no loss.

Plus, hate to sound elitist - but anyone who can drop $800 on a PCB, probably has a decent HDTV, already ;)

as ive said on numerous occasions....money is very subjective when it comes to games......especially cave titles

if i want it bad enough the price is just a hurdle en route to the end goal.....and thankfully they dont really devalue unless you buy them on release

More times than not, the $800 PCB will hold it's value far longer than the $800 TV.

It's a bad time to be buying for me as I just got hit with a $4k roughly repair bill on my car. Everyone's losing money somehow at the moment - one way or another (check your electricity bills). However, some of the kits are rare enough that they -will- sell, and indeed I took EOJ's bugfixed Pink Sweets because I don't think that'll be too easy to find in the future.

Not selling my games, because I paid a lot for them, and most are worth half what they were now - little point getting in a panic and selling them when you look at it like that.

I've been getting fucked harder than anyone for a good 9 months now, and I've held on to the larger portion of my stuff. I still have my loke test items (muhahahaha). When I need to cough up money for rent that isn't there, I'll definitely be giving Super Pang a call.

One's finances and hobbies don't mix...they both, however, do eat up one's money though. One does provide a possible return monetary-wise if invested wisely and the other, a nice way to kick back & excercise/hone one's hand-eye coordination. ^_~

The real question is: Will you be able to find your sold Cave PCBs at the same price or thereabouts in the nearby future? Some Cave PCBs are damn hard to find these days, especially the classic released Cave PCBs.

I've asked myself the same question, will I be able to get 'em Cave PCBs in the future at about the same price I originally paid for them should I decide to sell them? My local arcades don't carry/stock such Cave PCBs anyways, so the right answer is to keep them and enjoy them as they were meant to be...at one's leisure. ^_~
