years ago i had thought about ordering one of the ASC's from Ransai.
every now and again when i feel the Pop N' bug, i do all the same old research: the best version, available controllers, etc.
in the course of that research i happened upon the Ransai forums and the multitude of problems contained therein.
Ransai forum main page (attention to the sticky thread) --> http://www.ransai.com/archives/forum3/viewforum.php?f=1
just wondering if anyone was caught up in that shit storm? i know we have a handful of moderate to serious players here on the forum, and i suppose i'm looking for the perspectives of those in the community.
thanks

Avoiding reading 100 pages of thread, could you just give an overview? What happened?

Three years ago a dude charged a ton of people $250 each for custom made pop'n controllers, and now most people still don't have an ASC or their money back.Skykid wrote:Avoiding reading 100 pages of thread, could you just give an overview? What happened?

seems to me the "shit storm" comes in like a dis a.
he got behind on orders, and is left in the hole to these people, fine. but he is ignoring that community and their problem. no posts by him, no communication, nothing... for a very long time.
(value of the unfilled orders * number of orders taken) ^ radio silence = shit storm

Haha, Ransai. Whenever I hear that name I just think of the poor sobs who are out of pocket and have been for years.
Just so you know, they're not the best Pop'n controllers available. The best I've seen are the DJ DAO ones, beating even the official KASC. In fact, I actually owned a KASC and didn't like it at all. It's extremely hollow, super loud, and is only desired for it's looks. It got to the point where I enjoyed playing Pop'n on the miniature controller instead.

After I saw the queue Ransai had and their extremely inactive website, I kinda got the feeling something like this had happened. Never bothered to look at the forums though, yikes.
...I figured I'd just get a DASC if I ever got around to Pop'n. Slightly OT, but they're not having any problems like this, are they?

I had a Ransai Pop'n controller. I didn't have much a problem getting it, but it arrived dead. Sent it back, came back working until I got Pop'n 10, then stopped working. Repeat, then it died around Pop'n 13.
I gave up and sold it to someone who knows how to fix it himself. I'm ASS with a soldering iron.
In any case, the IIDX ASC buyers are the ones who got screwed hardest. I actually had a preorder for one but sold it when I stopped caring so much about IIDX.
I feel sorry for the guy who bought it but I'm assuming he's not around any more because he hasn't asked me for his money back.
