Me too - perhaps we should set our clocks forward only 45 mins when the next seasonal time shift comes, a bit like in that awesome episode of Eerie Indiana. I'll be Simon.

banned for 2 weeks. Who else is banned and for how long. List please.
Is the banning really based on an automatic time mechanism?

shoe-sama, icycalm, Knuckles-chaotix, and fighter17 are indefinitely banned from what I can find.
Zweihander was 2-week banned at one point (mainly due to this).

I stumbled across "the reason the shmup genre died" today. It's a masterpiece! And irony of ironies, the "reason" himself gets owned so soundly he never posted here again. 10/10

I'd give him some points for the opinions on Ikaruga vs Gradius V tho.

He didn't seem like a bad guy, to be honest. Just had the misfortune of being the disgruntled antithesis of the "super nerdcore" (ie... well, most of us in the audience) and too ignorant to present anything but an easy target.

I'd like to hear from his perspective with a little more experience and tolerance. Being aware of the genre's non-localised happenings and not blindly debasing its fanbase would go a long way. Not saying I'd ever agree with him, but it's an interesting perspective. Between the mainstream and us, pretty much. I actually would like to see a Guardian Legend-esque shooter that combined hardcore substance with more mainstream attractions like exploration and character building, just to see if that olive branch might draw in the "too short / too impossible" crowd.

I wonder if he ever gave the suggested games a try or just concluded the fanbase is an entirely lost "nerdcore" cause as he said. Oh well! His thread was good harmless pratfall fun, anyway.

I didn't read the whole thread and mostly skimmed the OP, but that really isn't a good example of a bad thread starter. He makes some good points and is badly misunderstood by the first few posters who clearly aren't following him. Bit embarrassing for the board actually. His mistake was making that his first post, and making it too long.

Who said anything about "bad thread starters?" The thread eventually turned to shit when he proved himself incapable of considering why people actually enjoy shooters as they are. Someone making his argument needs to be able to do that.

If I sound less charitable about him than I did a year and a half ago, it's because he later popped up here under a different name, as ignorant, intolerant and vacuous as ever.

It's cool. I agree the opening post of his topic isn't all that bad. The poster behind it proved an absolute waste of time, unfortunately.

From your beloved poster:
if I made kratos a big giant green dinosaur before the release of god of war would that ruin the experience for a lot of people?
Goddamn, why didn't they make that game? Another lost opportunity.

Of all the games to pick to replace the main character with a giant green dinosaur (which would improve any game), he picked God of War - the game with possibly the worst main character ever. What a lunatic.
