From what I've seen (never played Ketsui) the bosses are one of the best aspects of the game. Now, the DS game has something like 5 midbosses, 5 regular bosses, and then Doom, with multiple difficulties (and thus, different levels of patterns?). The bullet patterns in Ketsui look to be just incredible and I can't wait to play them. Now, consider that the full game goes for, what, $1500? And now we get some of the best parts of the game on the DS for $50, INCLUDING a superplay DVD for the full game. Mastering all the bosses of Ketsui DS, with the scoring system, including no-missing Doom, will take a hella long time and offer as much replayability as any other shmup.
That's why I personally am buying a DS solely for Ketsui.

I´m all for it.seiatsu wrote: Now, can we put it to rest and discuss Ketsui as game and not if you think it's fair, worth it, etc.
Moving on, someone actually edited the Wiki Ketsui page and added infos on the DS version which is very likely the info on the official page translated:
A quick google translation says that the infos on the "Kizuna" mode will be released later. Maybe it´s a co-op mode?Retail version
The retail version of the game includes a DVD walkthrough video.
The game adds the ability to save replays, which can be sent to other Nintendo DS units. In addition, it can upload the Ketsui demo game to other Nintendo DS units. EVAC Report feature allows players to unlock panels when specific conditions are met.
Single player modes:
* Novice: 4 mid boss + 1 boss stages.
* Normal: 5 bosses stages.
* Hard: 6 bosses stages, increased bullet density.
Multi player modes:
* VS mode: Competes against other player for multiplier chip. When one player has a longer win/loss gauge, multiplier chip goes to that player when an enemy is destroyed.
* Kizuna mode:
Training mode: Allows selecting stage, boss difficulty, player's ship, ship stock, bomb stock, auto bomb.

Seriously, I bought Chaos Field at full price ($20 I think) and have greatly enjoyed that game. I'm looking forward to buying this game and supporting Cave. Hopefully if this game sells well they'll port some more games in the future.seiatsu wrote: Oh.....And just for the record, i love boss rush games and am fine with the price of admission.

Do the Death Label boards (if there are death label boards) cost the same to play as the regular Cave stuff in arcades? And do they cost as much as the regular kits (assuming its not a mod)?

I don't get how you people get all excited about games that are so short that you can beat them in an afternoon.jpj wrote:you know what i don't get:

WTF! no unlockables, hidden characters, or secret areas?

I am anxiously waiting for this to play!

it was fun at 1st, but got outta control in no time... i decided not to reply him because he got pretty crude with me, and thats not the point here... we're discussing about games, theres no real need to get into pointless fights and shit.jpj wrote:nevermind dude, some kid ruined the thread by posting that over and over the last couple of days

come on guys. stop trying to bait him back in. it must have taken a good bit of time to edit all this so lets help the mods out and end it.
back on topic. watching some superplays of ketsui on the net and i notice alot of the bullet patterns are really....unorthodox. stuff comes at you from odd angles, bullets speed up and slow down, patterns overlap really strangely, etc. is this game considered harder than ddp doj? sure looks like it might be. also, whats the hitbox size? same as ddp doj?

That´s the reason why I think that this game will make a good boss rush - there are a lot of patterns I really love to try out myself. I predict these upwards and sideways travelling bullets to beat me up big time, though, especially with the lack of a visible hitbox, which would have been a nice inclusion for moron players like mebrokenhalo wrote: back on topic. watching some superplays of ketsui on the net and i notice alot of the bullet patterns are really....unorthodox. stuff comes at you from odd angles, bullets speed up and slow down, patterns overlap really strangely, etc.
Oh, and of course the patterns are modified and dumbed down, but the general feeling seems to be intact, judging from the trailers.

It's probably about the same. With a bit of practice I was able to reach stage 4 on both consistently (bad player alert).brokenhalo wrote:

Ketsui is also much more fun than DOJ and its oh shit minor mistake I ruined my score start again and again and again system.

I felt that the Stages in Ketsui were a bit harder than DOJ (Judging from the first 3 levels here, as i only played like 10 credits on Ketsui - score was laughable 15m).
However the bossfights are harder in DOJ.
So me thinks that's a matter of personal preferences.
Do you want hard stages or hard bosses?
Fun or anal scoring?
Great music or OK music?

I suppose I'm judging off the Arrange album's rendition of DOJ's music. DOJ Arranged > any other Cave game's soundtrack. This is not opinion; this is fact. Ketsui's OST sounded like forgettable butt-techno.MX7 wrote:Ketsui OST >>>>>>>>> DOJ OST
Not that either of them are classics.
