I just got the memo that it's not going to be the full game. What a piss-off. Then again, Cave no longer cares about their fans, so this is to be expected from them. $60, for a 15-minute boss rush? No thanks, I think I'll put that money toward Thunder Force 6...
Fuck you, Cave. I used to love you. I stuck with you even though the Mushi port sucked, I tolerated switching my heavy-ass TV into TATE mode every time I wanted to play Ibara because the YOKO mode looked like ass, but this crosses the line.

Arika is making this, not Cave. And they are actually doing a very fine job given it´s on the DS.P_HAT wrote:i lol'dZweihander wrote:I just got the memo that it's not going to be the full game. Also, "60$ for a 15-minute game"?

Played it already? You might look a little bit silly when it finally hits stores and everybody who's bought it or owns a R4 flash card will clearly see that it's a solid portable danmaku shooter they got.Zweihander wrote:I just got the memo that it's not going to be the full game. Btw, if Cave's attitude pisses you off why punishing Arika for it? Arika's port will at least not be region coded

I preordered the game just for the DVD alone, to be honest.

No, it's just the fact that I don't pay money for a shmup that's even shorter than Psyvariar. If anything, I'll R4 this, just to get a taste of Ketsui. If they release the full game on 360 like they've been talking about, and if it's region-free, I'll gladly pay $60+. However, $60 for a boss rush mode and nothing more is not what I'd call a good buy, especially with TF6 right around the corner.Jockel wrote:Yeah, he is so hardcore he can play through all the difficulty settings and the multiplayer versus mode in 15 minutes.

Yeah, but who pays $50-60 for an appetizer? Like I said, I'll buy it when they release the full game. Then again, I'm not the type to pay $50 for a mere superplay DVD, so maybe I'm biased in terms of the fact that I'm just not fanboyish enough to throw money at a company who hasn't bothered to port the games I've been wanting to play for years now. (Galuda 2 and Mushi 2)brokenhalo wrote:i think some people are forgetting that this $50 game also comes with a superplay dvd for full version ketsui. under normal circumstances, cave would sell that for $50 all by itself. or add an artbook and charge $80. think of this package as an appetizer for ketsui 360 and it looks a lot nicer.

"Rah rah rah this game is teh ultimate fail Cave why did you RAPE and BETRAY your fans. I´m still going to pirate and play it just because I´m that angry!"Zweihander wrote:If anything, I'll R4 this, just to get a taste of Ketsui.
Either you don´t want to play it, then you don´t buy it, but don´t say that you already know it´s going to suck hard but still announce that you´re going to "get a taste of Ketsui". In my book, when you´re going to pirate something, you at least stand up for it. I HATE this justification talk, like you´re somehow entitled to just take the game for free if you don´t feel like paying for it.
And normally I wouldn´t give a rats ass if some random dudes get their Final Fantasy IV ROMs off the internet, but talking in that way about such an awesome niche genre and developers who are working their asses off just so some people might enjoy the first proper bullethell on the go it downright tactless. This game is already more than I ever expected it to be, have you any idea how much insane work *PROPERLY* putting stages into such a conversion would be?
Oh, and
No, you didn´t "just get the memo", you´re just late to the party to spout out your out-of-proportion complaints. Stop talking like somebody sent you this as an important notice to your workplace.Zweihander wrote:I just got the memo that it's not going to be the full game. What a piss-off.

Wow, talk about taking things out of proportion.
I never said Ketsui SUCKS, I simply said that $50 for a boss-rush demo of the gameplay is way too steep. Imagine paying $50 for the Spore Creature Creator. That's how foolish it looks to me.

So, who says people can´t have fun with a bossrush game for months and months? It has scoring, it has a replay save feature, it has three difficulty modes. And it´s the first proper handheld danmaku. Just because it hasn´t real stages doesn´t automatically mean it´s a rip-off. Some people even think that no handheld game is worth 50$ just because it´s not on a "proper" console.Zweihander wrote: I never said Ketsui SUCKS, I simply said that $50 for a boss-rush demo of the gameplay is way too steep. The important thing is if it´s good ON ITS OWN. That´s why I keep insisting that people should stop comparing this with the original game and just take it for what it is. It´s on the DS, for gods sake. OF COURSE there can´t be the complete Ketsui in it, the resolution is lower and the processor is weaker.
You think 50$ is a shameless rip-off and that Cave (or Arika in this case) should go fuck themselves (your words, not mine), but if I didn´t have a DS already I would have bought one just for this one game. And with all the stuff that´s in there I don´t see any longevity problems at all. And I don´t even care for the 360 port all that much, all I want at this point is a solid handheld shmup because I wanted one for years and years.
PS. I don´t care for Spore either way.

In my opinion, it does automatically mean it's a ripoff, at least for $50. I'd pay $20 at most for something that's not even half a game.FrederikJurk wrote:So, who says people can´t have fun with a bossrush game for months and months? I wouldn't even pay $30 for a boss-rush Ketsui demo if it WAS on a console. Some people even think that no handheld game is worth 50$ just because it´s not on a "proper" console.
Completely subjective opinion. The important thing is if it´s good ON ITS OWN.
And as such, it should cost $25 at most, much like a Simple2000 title that's afraid to go that extra mile and be a truly great game. That´s why I keep insisting that people should stop comparing this with the original game and just take it for what it is. It´s on the DS, for gods sake. OF COURSE there can´t be the complete Ketsui in it, the resolution is lower and the processor is weaker.
Indeed they should, both Cave for allowing this faggotry and Arika for being pompous enough to charge $50 for it.You think 50$ is a shameless rip-off and that Cave (or Arika in this case) should go fuck themselves (your words, not mine),
Then you're a tool; only an idiot buys an entire system because of a single game. Enjoy being on the same level as anyone who bought a 360 solely for Halo 3.but if I didn´t have a DS already I would have bought one just for this one game.
Then get Nanostray 2, at least then you get a full game to go with the boss fights. And with all the stuff that´s in there I don´t see any longevity problems at all. And I don´t even care for the 360 port all that much, all I want at this point is a solid handheld shmup because I wanted one for years and years.
Only thing I can agree with you on.PS. I don´t care for Spore either way.
ITT: People with sense and standards decide to just evaluate Ketsui on their R4's, Cave fanboys meanwhile hold a circlejerk over the table scraps that Arika tosses them.

I'm not trying to be a mod or anything but you guys should let this die (or take it to PM), seriously. There is a counter to each side of the argument:
The one guy doesn't want to buy it and feels it's overprced. OK. to each his own. Those that want it will be enjoying it while he sits back bitching to himself over the cost.
The other guy griping about price...are you forgetting this is an import and comes with DVD (I'm aware that you said you don't care about the dvd but none the less)? There is a manufacturing cost involved and a company is out to make profit even if they do have a passion...otherwise they can't support their passion (this isn't MS or Apple or IBM). Imports always cost more. that's not the fault of the dev. It's taxes and customs, etc. It's just how it is. If it were being released here...it would be less just as it would be less if you were phyisically buying it in japan.
Bottom line is everyone has their own opinion and you can't force someone to share yours. Now, can we put it to rest and discuss Ketsui as game and not if you think it's fair, worth it, etc.
Oh.....And just for the record, i love boss rush games and am fine with the price of admission.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. It's not the most popular shmup, but I started enjoying it after I got the scoring system down.Zweihander wrote:

The "scoring system" was broken as hell, and involved milking the bosses until they timed out. If I wanted that, but without the broken, I'd play Psyvariar.seattlexc wrote:Thanks for sharing your opinion. i think the game will rock, and i'll pay the 50 bux for it gladly... if someone else doesnt wanna buy it, its ok, but what is so difficult for those ppl to understand that their POV its proly not the POV of the rest of the world?...
from my perspective, a Cave game on the go (wheter its fully emulated, ported, remade or whatever) its a priceless thing for shmup lovers.
so, you dont like it?, theres plenty more shmups for you to look after (for handheld devices, consoles, arcades... you name it), so suck it up... and in the mean time, let us enjoy the nnew baby.

Still, the fact that most Cave fanboys here would probably pay $50 for a game that only lets them fight the bosses is sad. It's like taking Sonic 2 for Genesis, making a "boss fights only" version of it, and releasing it for $50 on a next-gen system. That's the rough equivalent.moozooh wrote:Look, pal, you're being an ass. Stop telling people how bad or wrong it is to spend money on one thing and not another. People who pay way too much for something that's only worth half the price... Sort of reminds me of that movie Idiocracy.

It's been heavily hunted at. I wouldn't say inevitable, but I would say it was very likely we at least get Daifukkatsu and Futari.Etrian wrote:So now Futari, DFK and Galuda 2 are "inevitable"?
