Anonymous goes political!

Post by Ed Oscuro »

Well, if there were any doubts before (which there really weren't):

"Anonymous" hax0rz Sarah Palin.

In related news, Sarah Palin uses the same email service as my mother. My mother doesn't run a state, though, nor does she use it to hide official correspondence.

I'm kinda worried this is going to be a fuckup in the long run because Gov. Palin can claim any incriminating email was forged.

Really, how careless can you be?

Also, I somehow love how Anonymous bring out internet trolling in a big way :)

I have this horrible feeling that somehow, McCain and Palin will find a way to get elected no matter how scummy they are.

I clicked that link expecting Anonymous to have released something fucking amazing from Palin's inbox. From what I gather from the article, they didn't get anything newsworthy.

Anonymous, you disappoint. Should have waited until they had something good to leak.

That said, it's pretty great regardless.

The main thing is, she shouldn't have been using a "normal" e-mail account to handle government business, because a) obviously it's not as well-protected as a government e-mail, and b) gov't e-mails are normally archived as a matter of record - by handling this business on a "normal" account Palin suggests that she doesn't want any of the messages she's sent/received to come back to haunt her at some point, so she sends/receives them via a provider which is easy to permanently delete stuff from. Others in the Bush administration have come under criticism for the same thing. Off to the side, the fact that her husband is refusing to cooperate in the "troopergate" investigation (and the fact that she herself is trying to get it cancelled) doesn't make me trust her any more, especially considering the sort of presidential act she'd be following.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/19/todd.palin/

Hum ho...
CNN has seen thousands of e-mails released this year from the governor's office that show that Todd Palin was copied on hundreds of them. The topics of the e-mails ranged from public criticism of Sarah Palin to her meetings with corporate leaders.
So, aside from the Yahoo! emails, these must be FoIA'd emails.

What in God's name does that have to do with this topic?

No, you don't get to create a fake answer; the answer is nothing in the least. If you have some legitimate concern regarding any of the people in the political spotlight this year, you can create a topic and we'll discuss it intelligently and respectfully. Please keep your bursts of jingoistic creativity out of the discussion because they don't add to it. I don't mind that you don't like Obama and feel the need to tear him down, and I won't complain if you write flip posts (I do it all the time) so long as they have something relevant in them.

Saying Anonymous has a direction and motive is insane. It's still a bunch of random social misfits and retards at it's core.

And it's not like anonymous as a whole, or even individual anonymous, care in the least what happens to other anonymous.

It's more like random auteurs and such hoping for group respect if they tag it to Anonymous...that or they want to throw investigators off their track, I suppose.

If she does infact use her private email address for correspondence with other staff members or governmental bodies, can you really consider it a private email account anymore? I'm not asking for response with analogies here, but if she does infact potentially use her personal email to avoid subpoenas then why the hell should it be considered personal. She is paid by the taxpayers and they have a right to know what is going on. Why have her staff members been studying the use of personal email accounts for official business anyways?

For purposes of determining if the law was broken, I suppose.

I read that messages dealing with the deliberative process are not necessarily FoIA'able, but it sounds like everything in the Governor's own office was being run that way, or very nearly so.

That's nothing. Anonymous hit Oprah too. Ironically and quite laughably, she claims to know what Anonymous is: an pedo organization with the potential to hunt down your children with over 9000 penises.

When Palin got hacked, it was funny and it made some headlines. Now that Oprah has noticed that someone's trolling her website, the whole fucking world has to stop.

The sad thing is, Oprah's disciples are going to go batshit insane over this. Anonymous better stop being so reckless. I frequent 4chan's /c/ board multiple times daily, and I don't know what I'd do if it was forced to go down :(
