Not really sure what you're after, but I do have access to the website Gamespress.com - a resource for games journalists. It has a PAL bias, but there's a few shmups on there (anything from about 2000 onwards. All have screenshots, but a few come with concept art etc.
For example, there are two official concept artwork images from Gradius Collection PSP. Each is about 250mb. The second is downloading now. Here's the first in miniature version 16 times smaller than the original!:

No idea how I'd get the original to anybody though, as apparently it is too large for a zip.
Or perhaps these images are just old hat and out there in hi-res form all over the place, or not at all what this thread was after, as it isn't flyer/poster art...

That's not the Ibara poster, that's an 800DPI scan of half of one of the promo cards:P_HAT wrote:i found it on shmup forum.

@spadgy, very nice image from Gradius collection. The limit on zip files is normally 4Gb unless you are using the 64bit version.

Hey rtw. It is indeed a lovely image, and so much nicer in its full res glory!
The only reason I thought it was too big to zip is because of the aforementioned Gamespress website.
It has perhaps 10,000s of screenshots, press releases and concept art of games from around the year 2000 onwards. Each is downloadable, regardless of size, as a zip. However, next to the two Gradius Collection images it says 'Too large to Zip'.
I hadn't actually thought to try zipping them on my own computer. The images are on my computer at work, so I'll try zipping them there and if that works I can email them to anybody who PMs me.
However, Fudoh has said I can upload them to an ftp he can host. So there's a back up way to get them to other people.

megaupload.com is so slow when uploading.... I've sent spadgy my FTP infos and I will provide download links for the board, once I got the files and have stored them somewhere...

The two Gradius artworks, original resolution, just converted from their original photoshop format. Enjoy!

Excellent! Big thanks to Fudoh, who is clearly far more tech-savvy than me, for letting me upload those images to his ftp and then getting them on Megaupload for all of us.Fudoh wrote:The two Gradius artworks, original resolution, just converted from their original photoshop format. Enjoy!

The second, by the way, is the image from the PSP pack front, without all the text. Here it is in ordinary res:

Sadly all the R-Type art is crap and low res!

Hey GP, that's a lovely Ikaruga poster you have on your site. Unfortunately, the "Appreciate DVD" I bought has a huge Kanji over the center, wouldn't make much sense to blow it up for a poster anyway.GaijinPunch wrote:How hi-res do you need? Would it be possible to upload the original scan of your poster to megaupload or some similar hosting service? I'd love to print this one out as a poster.
@Fudoh
Thanks!

My other thread was locked... I'm still looking for more Thunder Force art. I want to use it for my stick. I just want to get a hold as much as possible before I start work on it ect.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Anyway, yeah, Games Press and all the others only have PAL stuff and US stuff really. So maybe we'll eventually get some Raiden Fighters arts...
I have access to Gamespress as well, and I couldn't find a lot of high-res usable stuff. I really wanted to find some art for my new SFIV TE stick, but no such luck.
That Gradius art is amazingly high quality, but I'm not the biggest Gradius fan. Bah.
