What's with the Ketsui kits?

Post by KindGrind »

I've never seen so many of them in the Trading Section (which I visit almost everyday), and by a longshot. Is there something I'm unaware of, or it's just coincidence?

The upcoming Xbox360 port scares the owners that the price of the pcb might fall.
If it falls into the 300$ range i will snag one up

As the person who started this 'movement' ( ), I'd just like to say on behalf of Ketsui brethrens: our decision had nothing to do with the upcoming 360 port - which none of us will be willing to buy, owing to the fact we still haven't forgiven Mihara for failing to port the game to the PS2. The hack.

Just like any traders, better to sell high than low. Especially when your talking about something most owners of this kit are just gazing at once a month if that.

I would hazard a guess that any kits owned by supergun/cab owners are just preserving the kit and keeping it healthy. I can't believe a 6 year old game in kit form gets to see much daylight at all. In my opinion, most people have completed the game or have exhausted it. So whats the incentive to watch it devalue?

What galaxy do you live on? Where are all these ALL scores posted?

Also note that Guwange is playable by anyone FOR FREE! yet the PCB is still raizing in value, and is even older than Ketsui.

Cute.

Come to think of it, did anyone see that Ketsui for sale on Yahoo Japan earlier today? It popped up, starting price of 99k, and had the INH DVD. Next time I looked, it was gone, and I don't think it had a BIN price.

Anyway, I expect to see more Ketsuis available once a date is set for the 360 release.

Say what you want, there's definitely truth to this. It's not a coincidence that DDP DOJ, Espgaluda and Ibara are all in the lower spectrum of expensive Cave PCBs.

Will Ketsui ever go down to $300? Probably not, however, it could drop by $300, which is a fair whack in itself.

Also, anyone remember what made the AES market bottom out? Playmore stopping NGH cart production, that's what. There might be a similar effect on the home arcade market when developers start putting out HD games exclusively (to be played on HD cabs, natch).

What I mean is that the PCB is doing nothing except posing for pictures for this site. Out of perhaps 25 people that own it how many are actually playing it? I own about 7 PCB's and 10 MVS carts and I haven't played but one or two of them in the past 2 months and maybe only 5 of them in the past year. I believe there is a misconception amongst people here who don't own PCB's who believe that PCB owners are actively playing them day in day out. When in fact its glorified ownership the owners are more interested in. Those days are about to pass with the inevitable release of the 360 version.

I would hazard a guess that the kits being sold off are actually people's 2nd boards and not their only copy of the game. The type of people that invested for the windfall profits later on or wanted one bit of a kit so spent about 18 grand to get it. Fair enough I say.

Uhh, I think people enjoy having the PCBs also because they look fantastic on an arcade monitor and "feel" great on real arcade equipment... Not just for the thrill of owning a circuit board :P

Such a great pun.

Ports affect the price of the boards (not as much as the kits unless they're in huge numbers --- look at Mushi). A 360 port isn't really something that causes arcade collectors to panic. But the DOJ:BL price had already been deflating. You could have picked one up for under 100,000 yen in Tokyo at any given time this past year.
