Lunar: Eternal Blue - "bonus" areas

Post by undamned »

So, I think I'm near the end of the game and I noticed there were a few areas that aren't required to finish the game but provide a bit more action (i.e. Lion's Head, Dragon's Den, etc.).

Are there quite a few of these "bonus" area's or do I pretty much have it covered w/ following the story and the areas I mentioned above? I'm playing the Sega CD ver., if that makes any difference.

It's been a couple years, but as I recall from the Saturn version, the bonus areas just have enemies to fight and some items/equipment to grab. Story-wise there wasn't much to do aside from collecting your team (if desired) and then going to the Star tower.

IIRC in the PS1 remake there was a cheesecake scene or two to be found if you brought the "soap" item with you in at least one area...not sure if that was in the original versions though.

Hey uh sorry to kinda hijack your thread but is Eternal Blue better than Silver Star? SSSC is my favorite RPG but I've never played EB.

Haha, funny.. my friend loves EB but dislikes SSSC >_>

But I think most fans prefer SSSC over EB. If you played SSSC through completely then EB is a MUST. But you might have a helluva time trying to get a copy of the game, since it's in the group of PS1 games that fetch high prices on eBay (Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden, SotN, etc...)

EB is way better than TSS. SCD EB is also generally considered better than SS/PS EB. People vary in their opinion of SSS although it's also way better than TSS.

Anyway, none of the optional bits in any of the Lunar games adds to the story (well, unless you consider the Epilogue to be optional).

From what I remember (played them both on PS1) they were on par gameplay-wise, but the first one had a simpler, more classic story. Nice eye-candy, charming musics and great character design, but in the end they were just too "fairy tale" for my taste.

If you use the search function you'll find some pretty lengthy discussion about the game differences (sss vs. eb as well as PS1 vs. SCD vs. Saturn).

gee i wish i didn't trade this away. just 1 reason i've learned to stay far away from GTZ. I even had the Boxing Ghaleon doll, it was hilarious. Worst part, the jackass I traded it to didn't have any consideration to package the nintendo games propperly and the cardboard boxes got bent to hell. After that I said fuck it and never went back.
