Your all bitching over nothing. The prices of BIN weigh in at about 15GBP for one unit. if you bid smart you should be able to get one at a fair price. just unfortunate you were not one of the first ones to get your feet wet. You could of been right to wait as these could of turned out to be filled with sawdust and glued togther with PVA lol.

Yes, and next you will be able to observe another basic rule: The price elasticity of demand.

What I am talking about is this:
When the price elasticity of demand for a good is elastic (|Ed| > 1), the percentage change in quantity demanded is greater than that in price. Hence, when the price is raised, the total revenue of producers falls, and vice versa.
That means: Wait a while and the sellers will be forced to lower their prices.

Well too late, I bought one. Not trying to justify the price, but most modern controllers can cost 40 to 50 dollars, and I'm too scared that by the time I really wanted to get one the stock would have dried up like those other pads.

I really do hope these are bootlegs.

If they are, they're pretty much identical to the originals and aren't super expensive. If they aren't, they won't be around long. With this logic, chances are they'll either vanish off the face of the earth again, or will be all over the place and easy to obtain. Although this may increase the value of the PS2 versions. I'm seeing two on Yahoo Japan for 12,000 yen each.

Are there any USB -> PS2 adapters out there? Not to be confused with PS2 -> USB adapters.

All I can say is: Don't buy them for $30 (1) / $60 (2) shipped. Force the sellers to eat the listing fees a couple of times and you'll see, prices will go down. It's like magic.

I agree. They will only have people asking for them to deal out of ebay which is know is pissing them off since I asked them to lol.

Prices have gone up to reflect demand, but if you wait a short amount of time, every other ebay seller out of china will cotton on to the success and attempt to muscle in by undercutting. This will force everyone to keep chasing their prices back down until the market is swamped with them and they're dirt cheap.

It's like clockwork. In a month or so, there will be tons of these back at the original - if not lower - cost.

You know, it wouldn't be bad if they made clones of the US Saturn controller as well.

Or something that would be even more awesome... clones of the Dreamcast controller. Why don't they?

If you'd care to look into the item discription you'd see this
This gray controller is SEGA SS Limited Edition of 1994. The company only produced 10,000 over the world. It's worth for people to collect it nowadays!
This is quite obviously bullshit.

I received it!
Pretty fast shipping if you ask me.
Opened her up as well as a presumed original (what's real anymore?)
And I see very few differences.
Mine is labeled on the back left on the outer casing with a small sticker saying: EDUP
Don't know what that means.

Regulare stickers bottom right on the back
My orignal one has a sticker saying:
SEGA
HCJ-0368
SEGA CORPORATION
made in China

boot:
SLS ISS-5001-01
[lots of katana]
[more katana]
made in China

I can think of several possibilities:
Either they are original and the sellers don't even know it and:
-they were the first batch to be tested in Japan, but never got there,
-they were still to be tested, but failed the tests
-they were a stolen batch, but thiefs waited this long to let it cool down to sell it.
Dunno, but they seem/taste/feel/look as good as originals, although the box seems flimsy. Were the original boxes flimsy? Who cares, but for the sake of establishing if these are boots.
Here's what I did. I had a pink one with white buttons and pcb with white cord, so I switched those into the white saturn pad I bought, so now I have a nice and clean white sega pad. only thing is I can't swap the d-pad since it's locked onto the front casing. Well anyway, pretty psyched.
Can dupes be this good? I never saw or even heard of bootlegged peripherals. These guys are pioneers?
The shoulder buttons are a bit slow on getting back into neutral after they are pressed and released.
I think they are original and didn't pass the test and were supposed to be destroyed.
I would just die to find out the true story behind them.
Or maybe bootlegggers got hold of the original molds used to create these. Can anybody do a C14 test to verify the age of the plastic? :D

I am asking a few questions about what sorts of products they can produce or who they have contact with to get other products. See what I come back with in a bit.

No sarcasm, I think they're really good.

Now, something that would be the awesomest:

Seriously. Most sticks out there are big, with a boxy base, that you pretty much have to put on a desk. Completely unlike the good old Sega Arcade Power Stick... this cutie was light, great to put on your lap, but also very solid. I'd love to get one of those working on MAME and other emulators.

Attention, bootleggers! DO WANT a new APS-like controller!

Have we become mad?
Trying to get our wishes granted from foreign bootleggers.
yep, it's madness.

OK, quick list here, I need a white ps3 compatible wireless negcon.
A ps3 compatible wireless guncon that works on plasma and with all ps2 and ps1 light gun games

Hey I'm new here, these Saturn pads are causing quite a stir recently, it was only the other day I was dying to get my hands on one and I just happened to pass by here and see that there were bootlegs up on ebay.

I ordered 2 last week, just before the prices blew through the roof.
Also it looks like a couple people are stockpiling them and putting them up for single auctions at extortionate price tags, which is pretty sad of course.

I'd love to know the story of how they came to be as well, can they really just be high quality bootlegs? or are we looking at a stolen batch of real controllers?
Guess we need to ask the people who actually own the legit version of this pad.

I thought we decided they were more or less real? ; D

Some more discussion that was posted earlier

By original do you mean original Saturn pad, or original USB Saturn pad. Because the original USB pads have same same (or very close) catalog number to the "bootlegs". Same SLS sticker too. Not that it means anything. :)

Oh yeah, also, the packaging was always the way it is with the eBay ones (small box) and, once more, not that it truly means much, but the box is completely in Japanese, with Sega branding everywhere, like the originals - most boots I see don't have that kind of stuff. :?:

gosh I've wanted one of these for ages, now it looks like I can finally score one with an inflated price.... but whatever, I just hope it works fine with MacMame on OSX 10.4

So who here wants to mod one for me with white shell and black and grey buttons... muster that up and I'll trade you something reeeally sweet for it, haha
