Audio Question: PC Video Cards w/ HDMI out

Do PC video cards w/ HDMI out grab audio from your OS and output it to the HDMI port, typically? It sure would be nice if it came out the HDMI port

Some do, some not. There are graphics card with their own audio section, but there are also those which need a internal SPDIF input from the soundcard or mainboard in order to mux the sound into the HDMI video stream.

Gotcha. I'm going to assume that motherboards w/ integrated HDMI are going to mix the audio for you and send it out the port?
