Have You Tested ebay-Rival ebid.net ?

Post by Ceph »

It's like ebay, only better: Listing items is free and the fee structure is simple. You pay only 2 or 3% of the auction total (depending on your account type).

Ebay now charges private sellers close to 10%, and then there's the Paypal fees: 3.9% PLUS 2.5% currency conversion fee = 6.4% + 0.25 EUR.

only problem is how many members does it have. I will be signing up to this soon though along with the game exclusive auction site which looks good.

There's also Chase the Chuck Wagon

Both seem very US centric

Yeah, they are US-centered and both have very few members.

ebid.net is a serious international auction site with more than a million auctions and has actually been around for 10 years. However, ebid only started picking up recently, probably because ebay is screwing up so badly.

Look what I just found: An RGB-modded Turbo Duo, for merely 45 EUR (66 USD): http://us.four.ebid.net/perl/auction.cg ... mo=auction

You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

Looking for a way to sell a couple? ;) No idea, I only just discoverd ebid.

At ebay, there is a (complicated) way to contact customer support, but all this will ever get you are automated replies. I actually reported a couple of Sapphire bootlegs and they never cancelled even a single auction.

I've signed up and listed games and stuff on Ebid- after 800 + positives on Ebay, I got pissed off with the ever increasing fees, the incredibly onesided feedback system and decided to vote with my feet and try a new site.

I've not sold much (i'll be honest) -but i reckon that in a year or two Ebid will start to make a dent in Ebay's monopoly of the online auction market.
I no longer feel ripped off by an auction site and enjoy selling again.

If you're a seller on ebay- consider giving ebid a go- IMO the more the merrier and if ebid becomes a success, maybe Ebay will stop behaving in the bullying ,greedy and arrogant way that its been behaving.

Ebay no longer has that fresh fun feel it it- it just feels like a site that takes yer money then tells you to piss off if anything goes wrong.

Really a double whammy, having to deal with EBay AND PayPal if something goes wrong.

So I guess ebid blocks IPs from Asia? Great "international" community they've got going.
