Extension Cable for a Duo-RX Controller

This has to be the shortest controller cord I've ever seen. Was an extension cable released? If not, what are my options?

I don't know of any official extension cord, but the plug is a standard mini-DIN-8. Should be pretty easy to build one for $3-$4. Only problem I can think of is that the shell of the plug you can buy might be too big to fit in the depression in the console where the socket is.
