Donpachi problem (NTSC) on pal slim PS2

I've got donpachi (NTSC) JAP and have loaded it up via breakerpro on my slim PAL PS2 it looks and plays brilliant BUT i get no music at all. Sound effects etc are all present but no music. Any ideas?

I have a slim PAL PS2 (uses the older chipset for PS1 emulation, IIRC) and it's 'chipped' to play all regions. My copy of Donpachi plays fine.

It could be your model of slim PS1/breakerpro combination or something like that...
