This "Russian Tea" is epic.

So my mom made "Russian Tea".

This stuff is really good! The ground cloves cost a bundle but are well worth the added cost.

The recipe:

1.25 c dry Tang orange drink mix.
1/2 c instant tea
1.5 c sugar
1 tsp powdered cloves (a bit costly)
1 tsp powdered cinnamon

You just mix these powders together as best you can and then add about 1-2 tablespoons to hot water.

Good stuff and tastes like Christmas.

its funny becuase the shops near me have started getting in stock for the "run up" to christmas. most wonderfull time of the year my ass.

Actually you could probably use real tea if you wanted but then you would need a way to seperate the tea solids from the drink.

I had something similar last year. I believe it also called for instant lemonade mix along with the other ingredients.

Could not agree more. I bet if you would do it with some proper nice black tea or a rooibos it would be sooooo much better.

By instant tea I'm sure he means instant sweetened iced tea, which is consumed by the overflowing truckload in the southern US. It's not really even supposed to taste like tea.

Actually, the tea is generally brewed then sweetened. I don't know anyone that uses instant.

I would say the majority is brewed though, like those separate containers in restaurants.
