Phantasy Star IV, Tales of Symphonia, Front Mission, Breath of Fire, Shining Force (this one is a bit like Final Fantasy Tactics)...
or the obscure yet awesome Treasure of the Rudras. I really recommend this one.

For some reason questions like these make me rack my brains for obscure gems, but honestly if you’ve not played Chrono Trigger, Shining Force, Secret of Mana, or Final Fantasy 6 go for those.
I remember loving Sword of Vermillion when I was a kid, but I couldn’t get with it (or Phantasy Star for that matter) when I got the Megadrive Collection.

As per all my posts, didn't need fixing.Stormwatch wrote: Fix'd.
Yeah, the Japanese version didn't have that guide book. All the exploring would've meant less grinding (or at least less "okay, I've got 3 hours of leveling up to do") but probably add a good 5-10 hours on to the total play time.without access to an online map. It's basically the prototype of the modern jRPG anyway.
Can't remember what the last 16-bit (or 32-bit) RGP I played that held my interest all the way through. Probably Chrono Trigger which I played some years ago. I wish I had 30 hours to kill... I simply don't though.

Another vote for Trasure of the Ruduras. One of the few SNES RPG's I ever bothered to finish. Lovely score from that bloke who did the music to Final Fantasy Legend 3/Jikuno Hasha SaGa 3 on the Gameboy too, y'know.
However, when it comes to traditional jrpg's, I think Tales of Phantasia will always hold a place in my heart :3

Secret Of Mana!
I loved it based on the simple fact that you have real-time fights (like in Zelda but with stats) and not these soul-crushingly dull turn-based battles - it makes this game a lot more action-oriented. It also doesn´t start with the player waking up in his bed on a sunny day like in every other RPG I ever played. Oh, and you also control a team of three characters, which is a nice bonus.

This game is also fun with friends, as long as they aren't morons. It can be frustrating if people don't realize that spellcasters (or whatever they're called in the game, it's been awhile) are obligated to pause the game and navigate through a menu in order to cast spells. Also, you have to move together or the screen won't scroll.Jockel wrote:Of course.FrederikJurk wrote:Secret Of Mana!
This game practically raised me. xD
I have completed it around 20 times.
One time i killed rabites until i reached level 26 before the first boss battle (if you played the game, you'd know that's insane).
