Tatsujin Ou Fast Forward

Post by antron »

Has anyone noticed that Tatsujin Ou (Truxton 2) can be Fast Forwarded with button number 4 (the one that is not connected in the JAMMA standard but is on an MVS)?

You can skip a lot of distance and bosses, but it piles up all the enemies.

Yeah, someone in the shmups IRC mentioned it.

Yes. I thought it was a MAME bug, though.

it definitely works on the Japanese PCB.

when a credit ends and the continue timer starts, you can skip an entire area before it reaches 1.

Wow that's cool. It makes all the enemies pile up big time though.

Yeah never liked that "feature".

You can FF through the last boss and off into glitch land (with the PCB at least).

When I tried it out on the first wave of enemies (months and months ago when we talked about this briefly in IRC), I noticed that I wasn't getting any more points.

It's nice to be able to skip through some stages because they're SO DAMNED LONG, but it seems that it comes at the expense of scoring opportunities. Maybe this was a barely-adapted feature, I dunno.

Also, it's hilarious to see the first boss in the third stage (I think it was). Later bosses get pushed right out of their stage, fabulous.

sorry how can I skip stages in MAME? pressing the button 4 in the conitnue screeN?

edit: I just tryed it... cool you can easely skip through the first 3 levels I think. But in the 4th there is a highway were the speed increases and the fast forward don't have any effect. You have to manage that part to skip this reset point. You won't be able to skip it just with the 4th button.
