Shmups available on PC?

Post by PCGAMER »

Hi Everyone,

Recently I re-discovered the classic shooter genre and would like some suggestions for good PC shmups! I don't care if they're free or expensive, I'm just after quality. Raiden III is the only game I have been able to find thus far.

thanks in advance :)

I believe that this topic should cover a decent amount of what you're looking for.

There's MASSIVE database of PC shmups on http://shootthecore.moonpod.com

Also, if you like R3, check out previous Raidens, which kick almost as much ass as 3.

Interplay did release Raiden II & Darius Gaiden for the PC back in 1999-2000. Unfortunately, for the Raiden II PC port, it still has the PC's D-Pad controller not corrected when playing it in tate (same damned controller issue that plagued the USA PSX version of Raiden Project when playing either Raiden or Raiden II games in tate). Is based off of Seibu Kaihatsu's Raiden Project compliation for the PSX and even has cool redbook audio format to listen to Raiden II's BGM tunes as a nice bonus. ^_~
