I finally turned on the red bullets and smaller hitbox in the second page of the OPTIONS menu of Garegga, and my score immediatly went way up. I had no trouble reaching the boss on the second level; previously I had found it a serious chore even to get that far! This change made even more of a difference to my play than did getting the arcade stick for playing Mars Matrix. I'm now confident that I will reach the 3rd level in Garegga, as I did in MM. Now if only I could get to the 3rd level in Giga Wing!

OK, I am completely done hating on Garegga. I just managed to get well into level 3, paying no attention to rank, and taking full advantage of all available power-ups. This game, which used to cause me endless frustration is now my new best shmup. (Well, not really: ESPGaluda, SNS2, and RSG still rule, with Souky and Giga Wing not far behind.)
