And I must confess that that wall comes much earlier as I get older.
old people can't play shooters...he's getting up in years, time to take his shooters away.

Oh, but how he loves to sit by the fire with a hot mug of tea, a blanket on his lap, and a fuzzy little kitten, and gaze longingly at his Ikaruga poster and reminisce of better times... He had something great, once... one day long ago....

It seems this is to justify 1942: Joint Strike's difficulty, especially given his reply in the comments. His casual arguments would be sound if the game had a single difficulty, but I'm not sure it sticks when you have multiple.

1942 JS is exactly the same no matter what difficulty you play on, you just get less lives. It is incredibly easy, but still pretty fun to go for the high scores.

Mushihime-sama (I don't think it's Futari but I haven't played it)

And correct me if I'm wrong, that's the wtfbbq Stage 3, with that infamous track "Walking the land of flame" or something like that and the freaking nice, gigantic boss spewing purple death.

/me plays the world's smallest violin

strings spun from shmupper tears and pegs of tiny suicide bullets

But back on topic, I've got nothing against shooters being not at arcade difficulty. They just need to be entertaining and not suck, like any game from any genre.
