May the Force be w/ you (Episode III Spoiler Thread)

Post by GaijinPunch »

Well, I saw it. Don't read any further if you don't want any spoilers.

-As a review I read said - best one since Empire.
-Not too much cheese... was impressed even.
-Nice way to wrap it up.
-Great action

What I wanted... more Wookies, but oh, well. Just glad that there were no Ewokes and Jar Jar shut his mouth.

I still need to find the spoilers for AotC. I really should get around to watching it.

So I guess Lucas finally got it right. It's funny I have minimal interest in the new trilogy. I am a fan of the original(have a bunch of games, books/collectibles). I wanted to see Grand Admiral Thrawn and a Noghri in a movie...

I just saw this today with my brother, and, honestly, it's on par with ANY of the first 3 Star Wars movies released, and it's LEAGUES ahead of Episode I and II!

And not to worry about Jar-Jar; he's only in one scene and he doesn't say a word!

Game-wise, all I can say is that LucasArts better give us a good space shooter out of this movie, with all the incredible vehicles it has in it, rather then the Episode III game that's out now, and that's evidently crap.

At the theater, I did see a Sega "Star Wars Trilogy Arcade" game. Is this some kind of Arcade version of the GBA game, or is it totally different? I didn't really have time to play it, so that's why I'm asking.

I believe that particular game came out around the time of the Special Edition trilogy being rereleased to theaters. It's basically a rail shooter with a few extra bits thrown in. I believe it's running on Sega Model 3 hardware.

Interesting; do you know if there are plans to port this game to any console? I'm always up for a good rail shooter! :P

I seriously doubt it. The game's quite old and far too short for anyone to bother porting it.

Found it:

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?let ... me_id=9777

Well, since it came out in 1998 I suppose there already would've been a port of this game-unless Sega deems it timely to release it, graphically enhanced of course, now that Episode III is out in theaters.

There wa a big question as to whether this would come out on the Dreamcast, as it's a Sega game. They said time and time again, "No". Your best chance is emulation. I think Modeler plays it really badly right now.

great action scenes, great transition, i'd rate it behind only new hope and empire, with jedi being a close 4th

I wouldn't rate it as any better than TPM or AOTC.

Not better, but at least it has something to do with the OT. Nostalgia counts for a LOT with this movie.

That said, and I know I'm going to get lynched for this... I consider Episode I to be the best overall movie in the PT. It was the only one that actually had any sense of fun or adventure (even if Anakin and Jar Jar were annoying little shits), and it can actually stand pretty well on its own as a self-contrained story arc. II felt like a history lesson with lots of CG... the "plot" barely mattered, it was just a couple hours of Lucas telling us how everything happened. And it had the worst acting of the PT by far.

III is dour, depressing, and totally lacks focus (once again, Episode I actually spent enough time on Tatooine for it to feel like more than just a pretty backdrop), but it also has all the moments that people wanted to see in the PT. It's as if Lucas made a promise to show us how Vader became Vader in 1999, and he only now finally made good on it. It actually carries some weight as a Star Wars movie, while I and II feel more like "here's what happened before the interesting stuff."

The new trilogy is really in a different style entirely from the original, and each one has a different style from each other. 4-6 seemed to synch better, 1-3 ran more like "fan fiction"... "Okay, how can this Vader stuff happen? *scribbles frantically* ...ah, this will work."

My $.02.

It was amusing [minus the fifteen minutes it took the theatre people to remember to turn on the movie], but I'm not psyched for a second viewing.

The Chronicles of Narnia looks spectacular, though  *cries*

I was disappointed, I don't like any of the new movies..........

But, did most people see the preview for STEALTH? That looked very shmuppy. I almost thought it could be Thunderforce the movie......a rogue computer takes over some planes and they have to destroy it......

Better than eps 1 and 2, though that's not saying much in and of itself. Overall, I found it to be quite enjoyable. There are obvious references (construction of the death star, proto X-wings and Tie Fighters), and not so overt ones (playing of Leia's theme from the original trilogy when the baby is presented by Bale Organa to his wife).

They have one! It's a new one of those "TV Games" devices being advertised on TV; It seems that they have both a space shooting sim (3D) and a 2D vertical "Obi-Wan on some alien animal" scroll shooting game (amongst others, I imagine). Nothing unbelievable, but, it's a "Star Wars shmup"...

I was really dissapointed with "Revenge Of The Sith". The dialog was so awful, that I found myself laughing at how dire it was. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. Lucas even managed to fuck up the saber duel at the end with clumsy direction and to many close ups on the characters faces.
I just found episodes I-III to be a complete shambles and a sad mess, i'm just relieved that it's all over.
Ah well, i'm sure the "younglings"  will love it.

I liked the idea of a Zip-Board [floating platform] fight, but then they didn't really do anything :? And Mace Windu went down like a bitch. Baddest-ass Jedi in the universe, or close to it, and he got pwned like a newbie.

So much wasted potential...

As usual, Hayden Christianson, or whatever his name is is BRUTAL. Thankfully his "acting" is kept to a minimum which greatly helps the movie. It's by far the best of the prequels which isn't saying much but seriously, f Lucas for having to stick Jar-Jar into the movie; up until that point I had happily forgotten about that disaster to filmmaking.

Still, couldn't say it's anywhere near the original trilogy simply because of two things. The main one being Harrison Ford. It's amazing how his acting elevates the movies and gives them that charm that the prequels are so sorely lacking. Number two, is that Lucas, that piss poor excuse for a screenwriter actually did not write Empire Strikes Back. Of course, coincidentally??? it is the best of the trilogy imo.

Episode III is worth it for one thing though, Jimmy Smits' pimped out flying Chevelle. Who knew there was a Latin ghetto in the Star Wars universe!

I think all of you guys are high. Episode III was so redeeming. Lucas is back on the Xmas list. Was there some cheese in it? Yes. Was there in Episode IV, V, and VI? YES!

A very boring bowl of cereal.

Seriously... this is like the only place on the net where people are saying Episode III wasn't good. I don't need other peoples opinions to make my own, but I was pretty impressed... minus a few scenes.
