I don't know how this legal stuff works, but that's not true.
Why not?

How about a sequel to Gate and Lords of Thunder, it could be called Gods of Thunder or something :)

I'll still my tongue for now, but none of the games mentioned are verts(izontals) besides Mars Matrix, which I hate. The only other game I can think of is Scramble Sprits, which isn't really franchise material.

Well it wouldn't be right to abbreviate it as SHT would it.

Okay, this is pretty huge news. The director has updated his blog: http://zolge.sega.jp

He confirms that Thunderforce VI is the first in what he would like to call the "STG Project" and that the entire plan revolves around the revival of shooting games. He says there are two other projects after Thunderforce VI that are under wraps for now, and that a lot depends on the success of Thunderforce VI. He says it's all up to the fans that love shooting games to make the project a success.

So there, it's pretty much official that Sega is planning at least 3 shooting revival games, starting with Thunderforce VI, but depending on the success of TFVI, the other two (and even more?) might or might not ever see the light of day. :o

If the likes of Gradius V and Ikarua HD can't do it...uh, nothing can.

But if PS2 really near the end, the game that developed for the last live of the console become very wonderfull (take FF IX as example), so if this TF VI released in the near end of PS2... we could expect it to be far way better than previous version (not only its graphic but also the game play like TF IV) don`t we ?
Better grammar please >.>
I do expect TH VI to surpass fan's expectations if they compare it to V but it might not live up to the titles before that in the fans' eyes. This game will turn out as a very competent sequel that incorporates a lot of fanservice from previous titles considering that the director also worked on Segaga, Astro Boy, and GSH. All of those were fanservice heavy.
.
I didn't care much for TFV, although it was OK. If this is better than that, and more near the level of GSH and AB, i'm all over this.

More like it's up to them to make a game shooting fans want to buy/play. If he's counting on people buying it just because it's a shmup ..
Yeah, I've actually payed money for just about every shmup that I've played with just a few exceptions. It's really an amazing concept: you put an order in at an import game store either by phone or online and you have your credit/debit card billed for a title that's sent to you in various timeframes, then a package shows up to your mailing address, you open the package, admire the articualtely and painstakingly designed, professionally produced packaging and layout of the title. Then you play the game and enjoy the hell out of it :!: :!: :!: *probably five times more than something downloaded.

I'm thinking that the programmers/artists/musicians/marketing aces responsible for games like Thunderforce, R-Type, Darius, and Gradius and just about every game that created the very reason we're having these discussions had this concept or something like it in mind all those years ago when they conviened in office suites or something like that way over there in Japan: make a game that sells. :D

I just wonder if back then they'd ever dreamed that someday there would be some kind of global link that lets fans and "casual" players track the progress and maybe even give some feedback to such a notion of making more of the games we love to play and collect...

Actually, I had purchased a bare cart.
Then you play the game and enjoy the hell out of it
I played it, but... the game was Super R-Type.
