I'm fairly certain there is no need for me to go with the JPN version over the US version, but I've heard minor gripes about the DC port overall. Does it look and play close enough to what I'm used to on Mame, or should I forget about it and save my cash for something else? I'm a huge fan of GW2 and would like to own both for my beloved DC. Are there any extras I maybe don't know about, lastly, does it support VGA?
Thanks in advance.

DC port's graphics have been downgraded a bit, and sound has been slightly remixed. Slowdown's also been removed. Only real extras I can think of are an autofire button (not really necessary, as tapping the button has a fine fire rate) and a stage attack mode with an extra multiplier tacked on (to further encourage you to not bomb or die).
I consider it slightly inferior to the arcade version, but especially considering the price it's still a fine pickup.

Sure it may be me having been used to the DC GigaWing's graphics before playing the original through MAME, but I find the DC's style better looking (sure, not in a technical sense, but aesthetically yes).
No real extras indeed though.
Also I prefer the ST of the DC rev. over the original one.
Should I have played the Arcade version first I might think otherwise.
Either way, both are totally worth owning. Certainly one of my fave games ever!
oh and GW1 >>>>>> GW2 any day!

cool, thanks for the info everyone. Both GW1+2 are awesome, I have spent so much more time on GW2 on DC than I have on GW on Mame, I don't really know why people generally prefer the first game more. Which do you think is more difficult? it took me an eternity to 1CC GW2 and that was using one of the unlockable ships. I'm probably going to drop $20US on a sealed copy of GW this week and I'll let you know what I think.
the PAL version supports VGA also (not sure bout RGB though...)gundamalpha wrote:NTSC versions support VGA if I remember correctly, but not RGB. PAL version the other way around.
also in the DC-version you're able to unlock a secret ship "The Stranger" - don't know if that's also possible in the Arcade-version?

For me personally it's because the first one is a bit simpler in nature (the 2-bullet difference between setting off a volcanon and missing one isn't really an issue here) and less pretentious (come on, Biblical references? They were cheesy enough in RSG). Both are still very much worth playing though.I don't really know why people generally prefer the first game more.
I'm tempted to give the advantage to the second in that area, but it's not a huge difference either way.Which do you think is more difficult?
Yeah, I believe that's another DC extra.lewisit wrote:also in the DC-version you're able to unlock a secret ship "The Stranger" - don't know if that's also possible in the Arcade-version?
