iTVgoggles - Virtual 80" Screen

Post by Ceph »

Crazy travel gadget I just found:

A portable virtual 80" screen. Has anyone tested them? I wonder if they give you a headache like Virtual Boy. I suppose they are somewhat crappy, featuring only composite input and a resolution of 640 x 480.

640x480 is probably OKish for playing 2d games of yesteryear. Considering most MAME games are 320x240....

Probably not the best for modern fancy schmancy hi def.

The thing that I find most worrying is having a screen that close to your eyes. I'm sure that this is taxing on your vision.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I CAN be only better than this:

I don´t really like idea of not having an actual screen in front of you. Not being able to see thing around me sounds pretty uncomfortable to me.

I've been thinking about it for a while just so I can watch while lying in bed, but my main concerns are the inputs and resolution. Not being able to see around myself won't be a problem either if I'm just lying in bed.

Also, if you plan to play shooters, keep in mind there will be no way to play with a vertical screen orientation.

Being close to the eyes isn't a big problem, there should be some optics in there so the focal depth is around 1-2 metres.

I may try to pick up a refurbished MyVu Solo sometime if I can spare any funds.

Sony had something similar back in 1996. And it sucked.

That would be Sony's Glasstron LCD-based personal TV monitor googles. They're cheaper to buy nowdays than when they first made their intial debut. ^_~
