Atomhex - Grid Wars sequel

Post by worstplayer »

Where to start... i really like Grid Wars so i was waiting for this game since it was announced. Now that it's out, i'm a bit disappointed. It's too complicated, enemies unbalanced, subatom "minigame" is uber-lame and it's confusing as hell (you can't destroy enemies of certain colors etc.).

Anyway, here's the demo , maybe someone will enjoy this more than i do.

Read this review of Grid Wars 2. The author definitely did. And he took these comments to heart when he made Atomhex.

If you approach it as a geometry wars clone you will be disappointed. If you approach it as a Robotron clone you will be disappointed. In fact, it's something more akin to Sinistar. It's a careful balancing act between color-chaining, allowing hexes to get all 6 atoms, keeping the monster population under control, and maximizing your multipliers. I actually recommend playing with the mouse instead of a dual stick arrangement.

Give it another try, you might be surprised how good it really is.

I'd like to try it again, but for some reason it says my trial has expired.
Interesting, last time i tried it it was on a different computer.

Anyway, i remember it getting less annoying when i played it again.
But Grid Wars is still better :)
