Soukyugurentai - level 3 boss. Beat him? Check. Many lives lost? Check.
Ikaruga - level 3(i think) boss. I never quite figured out if you're supposed to change the colour of your ship to dodge the bullets inside the satellite or just bob n' weave? Either way, it spells death for me.
Batsugun - level 4 boss. *see 'souky'*
Metal Black - level 3 boss. Beatle(sic) and friend...

I gotta chime in with:
Guwange - Ninja/Demon: This is a run ender every time. He is so fast that it is hard to consistantly do a good deal of damage to him, and all his attacks are also fast, fast, fast! I find his first form a little bit harder than the second, but even so, once the demon starts throwing out the orange rings that overlap/spread I am usually done for.

Graiud V:
The First Mid-Boss in Level 7. No matter how often I tried that stage, his lasers are always confusing me. Thanks to that fucker I wasn't able to 1cc this game. Because everytime I'll face him I end up losing most of my lifes or sometimes all of them.
DoDonPachi:
Stage 5 Boss. There is one attack that is really confusing me too. This one with the eploding missiles, really huge explosions and very fast. This is a bomb section for me, I can't dodge them.
Giga Wing:
The last boss (I mean Stage 6) sure is really hard. But I kinda like this guy somehow, because he is so stubborn and hard. I always feel like "today I am going to kick your ass". But haven't done yet, though allmost. Thinking about it maybe I should play Giga Wing and give that another try, since I was so close... ^^
There sure are lots of another annoying bosses out there, but they don't come in my mind right now.

Salamander (ARC) - stage 4. Yeah, there's a safe spot, but you need to be in the right place pixel-perfectly for it to work. I've only been able to do it a couple times. I don't see how it's possible to beat the boss otherwise, given Sally's rather corrupt hit detection.
Giga Wing - submarine (lava stage). Even on the easiest difficulty, and if you play as someone who has the lava stage first, this boss' attacks are still a real fucking headache. I usually have to empty most of my bomb stock on it to take it down.
Gate of Thunder - stage 6. That big walking tank. It's easy easy japanesy on normal, but on Hard mode, that orb that splits into lasers in all directions isn't easy to dodge. If I can one-life it up to this point (and I usually can in Hard mode), this is usually where my streak ends. Bastard.

I aim immediately for one of the spinning turrets on the wings that fire the fast-moving wide spreads. Beltiana is best at taking it out before it has a chance to fire. It's a lot easier to deal with one spread than it is two. The rest is easy, just sweep right/left. None of the shots are well-aimed or hard to avoid. As far as the spam at the end, you can do it with some old-fashioned bullet herding. Tap right until you get to the edge and see an opening (you may have to go up a little bit), and do the same on the left. When it centers and creates that nasty spread, depending on my pilot, I'll either point-blank it and destroy it before it reaches the bottom of the screen, or bomb it to pieces.Damocles wrote:Damn straight. I never have gotten a consistent pattern down for his spam.

I hate the first boss of Game Tengoku. That bastard is my arch-nemesis. Those damned arms he throws out, I'm fairly certain I have never successfully survived that attack without the help of a bomb.
And the fucking half-naked Vegas Lady near the end of the second level of Parodius Da. Not a boss, but still a pain in the ass.

That SOB. So many patterns, and just refuses to blow up. I can't remember the patterns. I only recognized maybe two patterns, everything else is solely on reflex. No wonder never beaten him.Alluro wrote:
Phase 2 Super Tank Boss (Raiden Fighters Jet): I absolutely hate this bastard! It moves so fast around the screen, while spraying bullet streams all over the place. I may use the Raiden mk-II or the Ixion, it doesn't matter. This guy always kills me at least once.
Giga Wing 1 - Volcano submarine. As OmegaFlareX mentioned. Tough bastard.
Giga Wing 1 - 6th boss.
Giga Wing 1 - Medallion(Never fought him on 1 credit, but I dislike him already).
Strikers 1945 II - Cross Sinker
Strikers 1945 Plus - Stage eight Midboss(That fast spray after the super laser...arghh). It also shoots some slow scatter bullets, follow by some fast scatter sprays, and if you are pushed into the corner, it's downright scary.
Gunbird 2 - USA boss.

Darius - Fatty Glutton. His bullets always scatter in the direction that you're going to fly into.
Darius Twin - Red Mist. Those red energy balls are so difficult to anticipate because they are affected by gravity.
DoDonPachi: DIE-Ou-Jou - Stage 1 boss. Oh, nice way to welcome newcomers, you assholes at Cave.
Gradius Gaiden - Heaven's Gate. I don't see how this boss could be easier than Big Core MKIII, MSZ. There's always those damn green lasers in the center.

I can't even do good against it when I cheat with the pause button (a technique reserved for Xiga).
-Last Boss...Bio-Hazzard battle
Just....arrrrrggghhhhhhhh. WHY WON'T YOU DIE.
-Last Boss...Galactic Attack
Every other Boss I can handle. . . .this one almost makes it seem as if Taito doesn't want me to beat it.

Oh yeah, I forgot.
Sexy Parodius:
The damn Medusa bitch, I hate her!
Her eyelasers gets you everywhere!!! Then you turn to stone hoping that no bullet will hit you and just in the moment you turn back to normal one bulet gets you.
If the eyelasers would kill you instantly it would be better, but watching yourself dying so pathetically is really more painfull.
You are always hoping:
Come on I was so good, I have collected all bells and that Medusa bitch needs only one more hit. Just let me go this time...
But never ever will you escape the stonecold look of the Medusa.

DDP:DOJ - level 2 boss:I hate him because of the variety in difficulty. Sometimes, destroying him is a piece of cake but once he crosses his two "circle of tiny blue shots"-patterns, it's nearly impossible for me to dodge succesfully.
Shiki 2 - level 2 boss: his last pattern is sooo evil, and since it's only level two I refuse to use a bomb, causing an instant death almost every time.
Giga Wing 1 - submarine: I simply can't see its bullets due to the bright orange background...very annoying

You get a lot more spaces to dodge between the lasers compare to Big Core mkIII.gs68 wrote:Gradius Gaiden - Heaven's Gate. I don't see how this boss could be easier than Big Core MKIII, MSZ. There's always those damn green lasers in the center.
Gaiden is definitely one of the easiest Gradius in the series. I have one-lifed loop 1 more than 5 times.

Nah man. The last bosses in stages 4 and 5 are pretty difficult. Alot of dodging going on there. Especially the stage 5 boss. What a bitch!

the 4th boss in shiki isnt too hard if you know when to point blank her.
by the way, the 2ND form is the hardest, but with kouga, you wont endure that long if you do this. point blank and hyper shot as it starts until she drops the 6 or 8 cards (cant remember exactly), as she does, attach your shiki to her and go down while passing in the middle of the cards, your shiki should continue pounding her until you're finished, you may have to dodge some of the purple shit, but not too much. point blanking he makes her die rather fast, not having to deal with the tougher patterns (like the 1st form second pattern hell bulletspam)
im kinda the worst at describing tactics online tho.

I beat both the Saturn & PSX versions of Sexy Parodius but I didn't get to fight her? Is she in a spacial stage or something? What level is she on?
Also how could I forget:

If you're referring to the "head" boss after beating the Queen Bee, then I agree 100%. Not only does it have the harshest bullet-spray in shmup history, but your bombs have absolutely no effect. In fact, the only time I use a bomb is to make all the bullets on the screen dissappear for a short moment. I have never spent so much time on one single boss before. I think it took me close to 5 minutes to beat the first time.dave4shmups wrote:I HATE the last boss in DoDonPachi! It's also my pick for the hardest boss EVER. Seriously, I have played a lot of bullet manic shmups, including DDPDOJ, but I have NEVER seen a boss with such an impossible bullet-spray!

Ikaruga, stage 3 boss. I try hard, I really do but so far I've only beaten that son-of-a-bitch without losing more than one life once or twice. I half expect the game to whisper "Yooouuu suuuck, reeetuuurn meee..." when the continue screen appears.
Oh yeah, the stage 3 miniboss snake-thing always gives me a hard time too. Maybe that's my real problem with stage 3...

I will 2nd this - I have had numerous problems getting past this one. If/when I pass the spider mid-boss I usually have little problem w/ the main boss of that stage, but man...that spider does suck.FatCobra wrote:I *HATE* the spider midboss in stage 3 of Einhander.
Any/all bosses in the latter half of Strikers 1945 II, although that's probably mostly because I suck.
