RGB connector on NEC Multisync Plus XM2960

Post by thamasha69 »

Hi, I may have a lead on one of these monitors, and I was wondering what kind of RGB connection they had? Or rather, what kind of cables would I need to find/make to connect my Saturn, PS2, DC, and Sigma supergun via rgb to it? I heard somewhere 5xBNC for these, but I also thought 15-pin d-sub, or both? Please help me ASAP! I would really love to experience my games through this as opposed to *sigh* composite.

I used to own the Multisync 4PG which is a step below yours. I never found anyone to make the necessary RGB cables for me but it's definitely doable. You need custom made cables to 4x BNC for each of your consoles, and they must be composite sync.

Are there perhaps any plans or wiring diagrams showing how its done. I have no problem doing the work myself, I just need some diagrams to go by. Thanks for the help. Also, these monitors for sure don't have any other RGB connector? Are NEC XM2950's different in this regard?

On your monitor, the BNC connectors is your only option for RGB. If your into doing it yourself, I'd first go to GameSX and check the A/V pinouts for the consoles you want to have RGB.

I'd imagine it would be simple as getting a euro-scart cable for each of your consoles and cutting off the scart connector. Then attach 4x BNC connectors and 2x RCA jacks for audio in its place. The saturn should be easy, its A/V port has all the necessary pins for direct hookup. The PS2, however, will require some extra work since you need to use a LM1881 chip to get composite sync.

I think building one adapter using a Scart socket, a sync seperator and 4 BNC cables would be more efficient. This way he could use the original Scart RGB cables and no need to cut anything apart.

rolins - thank you for the info, I will check out the site and see about sourcing the parts. That is exactly the push in the right direction I needed.

Fudoh - Thank you for the idea. I may have to try that out.

I just found this thread:

Apparently, the monitor will accept rgb signal via 5 BNC or 15-pin??
