What happened to Mario 128???....
Nothing was mentioned about this supposed-Cube title at E3, during Nintendo's press conference. I wonder what's up with that??

Gamespot streamed a live interview with Reggie some hours ago, where he formally apologised on behalf of Nintendo for not living up to their promise to show Mario 128 during this E3. He said Miyamoto changed his mind about showing it.

Nintendo doesn't want to show the controller for the Revolution.
Mario 128 has probably been moved to the Revolution and most likely makes good use of whatever makes the controller so "revolutionary".
Hence, they pull Mario 128 for fear that it either won't make sense without the controller, or it will give the controller away. An odd decision, but I can at least kinda follow the logic.

Interesting, and yes Nintendo's whole performance at E3 has been terrible. Their earlier logic was that they didn't want to release info on Mario 128 since people might copy the game design. Sorry Nintendo, but you're just delaying the inevitable; when Mario 64 came out, a LOT of other 3D platformers copied it. It's just going to happen, and Nintendo is hurting themselves more by not giving out more info about this game or the Revolution in general.username wrote:Nintendo doesn't want to show the controller for the Revolution.

I find it odd how everyone keeps saying Nintendo was terrible at E3, when, IMO, the DS was the main attraction. It was the only thing that showed off any "fun" games, as opposed to "purty grafix!"
But thats just me.

IGNcube: Can you give us an update on Mario 128?
Shigeru Miyamoto: [Chuckles] I'm just really sorry. I think I've given people the wrong impression with Mario 128. With all the questions I'm getting about this, I really feel like I've done people a disservice. In regards to Mario 128, we're currently doing a lot of Mario experiments back in Kyoto. We are definitely going to have a new Mario for Revolution. Whether or not that's 128 or not, I can't really say. It might be a new Sunshine. We're not sure. We're doing a lot of Mario tests right now for the Revolution.

I mean, games that were newly announced or had any new information at all released. Showing off copies of games that are already out in Japan isn't exactly what E3 is about, which is why so many people were hugely let down.

Sonic Rush, Super Mario Bros. DS, Mario Kart DS, Castlevania DS, etc.

Looks like another mediocre Sonic game to me (the series hasn't been good since it left the Genesis), but okay.jp wrote:Sonic Rush,

Nintendo had absolutely nothing new or interesting to show, and your list is mostly games from last year's E3. Hell, we even knew about the Sonic game then, too, though we didn't know it'd be a sidescroller. "Hey, remember these games? Well, they're still coming" does not an impressive show make.
This isn't a comment on the quality of the games, but on the quality of the show. There's a very big difference. I really want Castlevania and Mario, but I'm not paying attention to E3 just to be reminded that they're coming.

Well, I watched G4's week-long coverage..and I hardly think the DS was the main attraction, and there were PLENTY of games at E3 that lookedjp wrote:dave4shmups wrote:Interesting, and yes Nintendo's whole performance at E3 has been terrible. both fun and "purty". You can have both, you know. You don't think that PS3 Killzone, or any of the 360 games look fun?
IMO, the bottom line about Nintendo is that they NEVER give enough information at E3. They seriously need to drop their paranoia about copying and just show us some friggin' on their new hardware.
Say all the bad things you want about Sony; I don't care because they delivered this year at E3.

Exactly; and Nintendo is giving their competitors a big leg-up by not showing anything interesting. Drop the paranoia guys; gameplay copying has been going on since the days of Atari; get over it!sethsez wrote:Looks like another mediocre Sonic game to me (the series hasn't been good since it left the Genesis), but okay.jp wrote:Sonic Rush,

Yes, but that's two extremely similar yet competing games. Meanwhile, Nintendo supposedly has an extremely unique controller that is completely integral to how the system functions... for Sony and MS to rip it off, I imagine it would affect development of every single game that's been worked on and would significantly alter how the systems are made.
Or it's just not some amazing innovation and Nintendo is either over-hyping it, or they don't have it beyond the concept stage yet.

I don't think the intention is to keep it from happening; it's to ensure that the Revolution has something unique when it launches to make you buy it over a different system.dave4shmups wrote:Sorry Nintendo, but you're just delaying the inevitable; when Mario 64 came out, a LOT of other 3D platformers copied it.
