Component Video to HDMI adapter - is it very good pic-wise?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

I was at a Fry's last month and spotted a cool looking Component Video to HDMI adapter. I've never heard of such an adapter before and passed it up.

My question is this:

How good would the picture be if using such an analog Component Video signal to HDMI format?

The older gaming consoles such as the PS2, the X-Box and the Gamecube all do have Component Video output support but not HDMI output. Sounds intriguing. I understand that there several formats of HDMI ranging from HDMI v1.1 to v1.3 IIRC. The PS3 console does support HDMI v1.3 format for now.

The picture is going to be no better than the original component signal, if you have component on your tv already why would you want a hdmi adapter

There are some PC LCD-based monitors that do have such inputs as: traditional VGA, DVI, and HDMI but no Component Video input. Make sense now?

So it would make sense to get such an LCD-based PC monitor with all of the necessary inputs: VGA, DVI, HDMI, and Component Video inputs for the widest range of verastility then along with a minimum of 2ms refresh rate for the best no-lag screen issues, right?

And what 4:3 or 16:10 widescreen aspect raito PC LCD-based monitor properly tates in the correct anti-clockwise position? I'm considering getting one in the nearby future. ^_~

Just go to a PC shop and look for the monitors with 4 screws on the back.

All you do is unscrew the monitor, take it off, turn the monitor around 90 degrees and put it back on. Now it will tate the right way.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
