Here's my 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle...again!

Post by TWITCHDOCTOR »

http://www.pixelspit.com/temp/twitchrod2.wmv

Update:
We're currently taking her apart again. The tranny has been rebuilt, and the 350 engine you see in the video is no more... (I miss it...she was very shiny!)
We "is" throwin in a 468 big block.(454 bored out to .60 over, with some cool dome pistons) Should be good for 500ft lbs of torque, and at least 425 to 500 horsepower!!!

My Chevelle should be able to perform to the likes of this one.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5WJCtDrRaq4
(nothing too fancy in the video, the guy simply floors the gas pedal and you can see what torque does)

Here's another Chevelle similar to mine. Its a '69 thought...with a blower. Still, its sounds like mine due to the large cam I have in there.

Bye.

How many horses do the souls of the damned add to a small block Chevy like that anyway?

Nice pics of your car Sonic R. But you need to edit your post and resize them (smaller), the MODS will attack otherwise  .

I thought about putting "MOD ATTACK" instead of "MOD EDIT" up there :)

Sonic R, resize the pics, so they don't screw up the board :)

I personally like trucks better. I drive a '90 blue and silver Dodge Dakota extended cab. 8)

I'm becoming convinced that the best way to go is to buy used. I recently found a '92 Volvo for my wife for $4000 that is in beautiful shape. It looks great! Buying new would likely have put me in debt, and I would have ended up with something low-end like a Honda Fit.

Anything in particular you don't like about the Fit? I test drove one and it seemed like a nice little car (but since I've only ever owned economy cars, I don't know any better). Most of the reviews I read were pretty positive about it, and it was hard to even be able to test drive one when I was car shopping (late last fall) because most Fits were sold (at sticker price) before they even hit the lot.

No, there's nothing wrong with the Fit, as far as I can see. Nice value, reliable, safe. I just like faster, sportier sedans. I'd rather have a used 4-door Acura for the same price, even if the maintenance is pricey.

I had a bit higher price range to work with when I went out shopping for my car (my Rabbit ended up right near $20,000) so I was able to get something a bit nicer than a typical subcompact, but if I had been looking in that price range I probably would have bought used.

Poppycock!

Scroll down to 'Performance'

I guess I am sucker for true performance oriented vehicles :D

One thing that is make me mad when people talk about fast cars like "so how high does the speedometer say like 160 mph?" I guess EVERY car from the 80's is slow since they all only go 85 MPH
Real performance is measured in how fast you can reach the speed limit and how well you can merge in to traffic as well as gain ground in traffic situations.

It just annoys me when people ask "so have you had your car at 120+ MPH?" No but I've gone 14.2 seconds in ¼ mile with just a cat back and CAI on stock tires.

/end rant

With London being one of the few places where you'll see an extremely high concentration of mega cars, here's what I drove home behind tonight:-
Image
A new Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano in black

Damn sexy thing.

A couple of black Aston Martin SV12s passed on the other side, but the new Ferrari's looks still won
Image

Other than that I've seen a couple of Ferarri 612 Scagliettis, a Mercedes SLR Mclaren and some Lambos on the London streets.

I bought this today. It's very shiny. Very very shiny for a 26 year old car.

Never saw this thread before today, but here goes. Sonic R might appreciate my daily driver. a 93 LX Mustang 5.0 AOD(ex Missouri Highway Patrol car). My "other" car is a 2006 Pontiac GTO aka a Holden Monaro for you Aussies and I think a Vauxhall Monaro for you Brits. Mustang gets ok mileage in town honestly, and I've gotten 29 mpg on the highway which is pretty good. The GTO though is not meant for gas mileage, lol.

I won't pay over a thousand dollars for a car

I guess that kind of ruins my chances for ever owning the Batmobile

I mean really, if you're going to go all-out on an automobile at least have it so guns can pop out of the sides

i recently got rid of my car as i bought a shithot appartment instead but im really itching for a new one.. got my eyes on either a maserati merak or a De tomaso pantera (with a little d.i.y both are actually pretty cheap in sweden!?).

anyone else into older sportscars (80s an older)?

anyone do any racing btw? both me and my dad miss the atmosphere from back when i was in the RR circus but my knees are shot to hell so weve been looking into Classic Car racing instead.. looks pretty fun and relativeley cheap aswell.
we'd proboably go for a Volvo amazon twincarb sport or something similar.. fun car to skid around a circuit in!

2003 Honda Civic Hy--I mean, yeah, that's it. A Civic. It is totally not a hybrid. Hybrids are lame and do absolutely nothing to keep the environment safe. =X

I was in Knokke last week, a semi-posh resort on Belgium's coast and I spotted a new Alpha Romeo Supercar looking thing. Turns out it was this:- Image
Quote from Gadgetgrapevine;
The 8C will be powered by a 4.7-litre V8 the 8C is anticipated to have 450bhp and 346lb/ft of torque. It will have a two-pedal, paddle-shift set up computerized 6-speed gearbox that should enable to reach 62mph in about 4 seconds. With only 500 being built, this will be a nice toy to have, if you have the appropriate spare change.
Not really special on the specs, but it looked nice.
