I managed a 22 million on Pacifist, but it wasn't on my Live account (it was on one of the 360s at work.) The problem is that I can't seem to replicate it now...

If the gates are spaced out nicely, then a billion is easy. I cant say if i would have broken the high score but i know damn well i could of on my run the other day. I had 726m and my contact fell out. I started thinking, should i pause the game? or should i just continue with this blur? or even use one eye. My run was perfect, gates everywhere incase i need an out. Instead, i panick and run into enemies. Final score 726m. My personal best is 776.brokenhalo wrote:i can honestly see getting a billion on a good run. my best so far is 206,310,400 . as you keep playing your multiplier keeps going higher and your score rises exponentially so after playing for a bit you can get literally millions of points for every gate you pass. i'm guessing in another 10 to 15 seconds i could of doubled that, and that a billion point game would only conceivably be another 30 seconds or so. and a good part of this mode is luck as far as where the gates spawn, how they spin and group together.8 1/2 wrote:Daaaaamn. I feel old now. I've always been pretty good at Robotron and Smash TV, but getting a billion in pacifist? Maybe the game will begin to reveal itself to me, but I've been hunting 50 million and thinking that was solid goal.Django! wrote: A billion.

Sounds like me! I got 24 million once, but the next half hour of game time only yielded scores of 10 million or so. Until I break 20 or 30 million on a consistent basis, I'm simply going to slump into a corner and practice...Vexorg wrote:I managed a 22 million on Pacifist, but it wasn't on my Live account (it was on one of the 360s at work.) Up to 29 million now on pacifism, but that one was on the Xbox at the office too. I think my score at home is only up to about 7 million or so. I think I need to see about getting some better lighting in my living room, when I keep the room dark, the lighting effects combined with some of my eyesight problems can make it easy to get confused and crash into stuff. I seem to do much better on the box at work, where the ambient lighting is much brighter.
The big problem right now is that I seem to be wildly inconsistent. Some games I'll crash into something six seconds in, some games I'll make it a few million before getting cornered or crashing into something behind me. On the other hand, I can pretty much consistently reach 1.5 million or so on deadline now, with occasional higher scores (I think I managed to make it to nearly 4 million last night, still well behind the others here on my friends list) but I always seem to wait just a half second too long to bomb when things get out of hand.

Are you in game development too Vexorg? I keep getting my best scores on partnernet and coming up short at home. I finally got through Sequence last night with a final score of just over 30 mil.Vexorg wrote:Up to 29 million now on pacifism, but that one was on the Xbox at the office too.
Edit: Oh, I see you're in Redmond. Do you work for MS themselves or Ninty?

Still contracting at MS for the time being, although I'd like to go full-time soon. Right now, I'm doing SDET work on the Zune team, writing test automation for the client. It's about as close to the Xbox team as you can get without actually being on the Xbox team (Zune Marketplace actually uses XBL as its backend) but none of my job responsibilities actually involve anything Xbox related. The Xbox I'm playing on at work is the one in the break area.8 1/2 wrote:Are you in game development too Vexorg? I keep getting my best scores on partnernet and coming up short at home. Nice. I work for Nihilistic Software as a designer (link on the bottom there). We did that Conan game for 360 and PS3 last year, and we're working a dual-stick shooter of our own which I wish I could talk about but can't just yet, but let me say I'm busting my ass to make a quality score system with a lot of depth for it. I hope I can announce it here soon.Vexorg wrote:Still contracting at MS for the time being, although I'd like to go full-time soon. Back on topic: I'm still chasing that Smile achievement, but damn it's a bitch. You basically have to get good enough to one-life Sequence and then choose when and where to die and time-out. I've come pretty close, but I keep getting a random death here and there and blowing it.

This game is fucking terrible. What a waste of 800 MS points. All game modes are shitty, sequence you'll only play through once, pacifist is broken, deadline gets boring within half an hour, and the entire game takes about an hour to beat.
My major complaint is the unnecessary glow/blur that the game has. It just becomes annoying after awhile. All the achievements take about20 minutes to do too. It's just a poorly designed game.

I think it's great and don't see how Pacifist is broken.
Deadline reminds me of Caravan mode in old Hudson games, and if you want a longer experience, then there's Evolved mode. I've played sequence plenty of times because it has some really neat patterns, and I specifically like the stage with all of the gravity wells.
I don't see how you not liking it equates it to be poorly designed. It's a pretty manageable experience. No bugs, no glitches, just comes down to understanding enemy behavior, anticipating enemy shapes and using gates and gravity wells to your favor.

sequence--i bet you haven't managed to finish it once yet.
pacifist--broken how exactly?
beating the game in an hour--all the modes are meant to be played for score. at no point do you save the princess.
acheivements--your playing for the wrong reason, and i doubt you have "smile".

What's your best Sequence score? I'm still sitting at 61 mil - but I've seen videos with people at 60 million by around stage 15 or 20. How are they doing this?

Sarcastic...? LOL, most of this game is short lived and not worth 800 points. Yo have to be an idiot to see otherwise. Who plays sequence more than once? It exists just for the achievement.. but to this game's credit at least it has more modes. The first game was even WORSE.kemical wrote:!!! Sequence is about scoring, you have set levels which aren't random in enemy placement (unlike the other modes) so your goal is to squeeze as much out of each as possible. It takes a lot of playing around to find out how to get 150,000 out of the first level for example.Erinu wrote: Sarcastic...? LOL, most of this game is short lived and not worth 800 points. You use gates to take out large groups for big points (basically what you do in Pacifism), and the same for black holes too. This makes a big difference in the other modes as well.landshark wrote:I've seen videos with people at 60 million by around stage 15 or 20. How are they doing this?

Anywho this game isn't worth 800 points, so if you think it's worthwhile and get bored of the repetitiveness after a few hours don't cry about it because i won't be listening.
