RFP - 11,014,070 - 1 G G G 2 G G/Y Y/R

I'll be damned if I can ever defeat that St2 boss. Got 10mil (600+hit) on St1 and didn't make a whole lot more on St2.

What's up with the 8 at the end of your score? Are you using multiple credits? :o

should be a zero - if it took me 3 credits to reach the st3 boss on a green route i'd probably shoot myself

After 8(!) credits I'd be at the ridiculous last boss. The guy's got so much HP it's retarded. How the hell did DEL manage to 1cc do it really is beyond me. I invested so much hours in this one recently that I'm going to put it to rest for some time. By far the game I had more fun improving in, though.

^Months of play was how I went 6D ALL. The three forms of the 6D Boss last at least 5 minutes and thats a lot of mind mapping, positioning, speeding up n'down, skill etc. Added onto that, you come off the ranked-up Stage 5 Boss with water in your eyes from the stress overload. (In fact when I come to think of it, scoring high on the ranked-up Stage 5 Boss is indeed the most stressful intense part of any shoot'em up I've ever played  ).
Although, performing the 999 Break on the max rank Stage 3G Boss is also very nasty. Surviving the max ranked Stage 3G itself is very hard. Try this:- Stage 1 R R R Stage 2 Y Y Y Stage 3 G G G->ST3G Boss
It may look simple enough, after all, how hard can a Green Stage 3 get?
Answer = very hard indeed.

okay, so i've realised what i was doing wrong on stage 2 boss, so i'm now bordering up to green for stage 3. but i fucked up on the boss. is it the second time he does the purple laser attacks with the option pods that you're supposed to break laser? (it's a shame practice mode doesn't let you suicide properly, but i guess it makes more sense that way)

er, couple more questions...

why is it necessary to suicide twice on the stage 3 boss? is it just to get the extra power for your laser? if so, wouldn't it be possible to just conserve your break laser through the stage? i'm just thinking about trying to conserve lives...

and also, is it necessary to kill the boss's option pods during it's initial attack waves? they just respawn anyways. is it just to get some small points? because if you don't blow them all up, you may get the purple laser attack with only 1 or 2 options pods. so would i be better off just not attacking the boss or options at all, until the second purple laser attack?

have to admit, i'm quite getting into this game :o
but where's DEL?

okay, cool. i see that you have to suicide twice AND kill the option pods to get enough break laser charge for the big point scoring trick (it's surprising how much killing the options adds to your laser compared to a normal enemy!). haven't managed it yet, but got a new score on stage 3 red route

got another new score today, but don't have my camera handy.
but anyways... i didn't get much from the stage 3 boss trick :? and i haven't in practice either. usually just 15-20 mill. what am i likely to be doing wrong? i got the ranked up stage 3 green route, and destroyed the option pods and had them respawn, got a 700 hit chain. been studying the vids a lot, but i'm not quite getting it :?

jpj - The Stage 3G method is very difficult to score above 45mil on, especially from a Stage 1 Red Start. The difference between getting 45mil for the 999 Break and getting 90mil from it is in miniscule timing and positioning on the pods that circle the Boss. You have to destroy the circling pods when you're near or at the 999 Break, in order to get max points from them (then move up and destroy the Boss at 999 Break value - if you haven't run out of laser time :? ). The Jap replays show it being achieved but when you try to emulate the move, you just end up with 45mil every time :? . You're hitting the same Stage3G score stumbling block that I encountered.
Of course if anyone wants to beat my 6D ALL score, the best way to do it is to perform the Stage3G method to perfection - you'll then have a 40mil+ scoring advantage over me.

That's excellent from a Stage 1 Red start jpj! I see you died on the ST3G Boss's final form, which at that max rank is a complete nightmare. I used to get through to 6D on that particular route, but it was always a chore.

cheers DEL :D

and good point, my stage route should actually be:
R R R / Y Y Y / G G GYR

i have no idea how to handle the second form yet, and yeah it seems brutal  but i get the feeling that i'm not done with this game just yet...

It'll be plain sailing from there 'til the Stage 5 Boss :) , but that ST3G final form at max rank is a heart-breaker.
You might want to look at another route...
Like I said, this route is the way to beat my score, as it has 40mil more potential, but it makes you PAY for those millions :!:

played first credit in about a week and got a new score. feeling quite confident with my ability to pull off the stage 3 boss trick :)

DEL wrote:that ST3G final form at max rank is a heart-breaker.
man, you're telling me. i'm gonna have to put full-runs on hold for the time being. trouble with this game is it really is a 1-lifer. i'll hit practice mode, but that thing is fierce. i might just try timing it out, but that would mean surviving for 100 seconds. not sure which is harder... and can't decide what speed i want my ship. 3 is just a bit too fast for me at this section. definitely need to make some serious practice here :?
DEL wrote:You might want to look at another route...
i'll keep with it i think. just need to beat this boss...

Ok, stick with the ST3G 999 Break method, you might as well, seing as you can perform the Break. 2 speeds for the ST3G final form, not 3. Start by staying bottom left, getting rid of the bottom struts. The aim is to survive until you have built your laser up enough to move up and break the Boss's middle laser for quick damage.
Like I said, very nasty at full rank :? .

cheers DEL.

had a run at work today, but got nuked with 60m. i'll try that out. the turrets that fire vertical purple streams, do they alternate sides every time? ie bottom/top/bottom/top? i usually break laser my way through them and try to survive, hoping to have laser built up ready for the next wave  i'm toying with the idea of timing it out, i'll lose 6 mill in deductions, but probably make back more than that from having a stage break of 1,200+

ok, i can do the final form in practice mode (difficulty 40% default), it's a lot more pattern based than i realised - thought it would be very free-style, but thankfully not. killing him with -05 seconds on the clock though :? had one attempt at 100%, but it was, err... watching the replay again, i can see the guy's speed 3 technique being pretty good, but i get fucked up by the exploding pods - he seems to have excellent control over making them come up on the correct side he wants and killing them super-quick, which i can't do yet. i'll have a couple of runs at work tomorrow - i aint givin' up yet

There's a chance that the guy in the replay is using autofire, he takes the struts down fast. But maybe its just the point blank agression that's speed killing them...
I know he uses 3 speeds, but its not worth it, you could easily run into the scenery.
Try not to waste a laser burst on the struts, save it up for the main Break in the middle.
* The advantage of that route is 40mil more potential score.
* The disadvantage is that you're knackered but the time you've battled your way to Stage 4 :? . Then there's the strain of the ST5 & ST6 Bosses :D .
