Cable for wireless Xbox 360 controllers?

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I know you can get a controller with a cord, but I notice there is a little slot on my wireless controller which looks very inviting.

So, is there a cable I can just buy for this controller to hook it into my machine?

If you know of one that is reliable, i'd appreciate the brand name.

you want to get a "play and charge" kit from microsoft. it comes with a rechargable battery pack and the cable that you seek. about $20 iirc.

I wouldn't bother with the Play and Charge kit. For one thing the cable is for power only, not data, so it won't let you use it as a wired 360 controller on the PC. Mainly though, at 5-6 hours the recharge time sucks. Also, the system is really unreliable about resuming charging. If you charge for 30 minutes, switch off and then on again later, the charge light will usually go green like it's fully charged, even though it's nowhere near. The console is also inconsistent about going into standby charge mode when you switch it off with the charge cable plugged in. Sometimes it will continue charging, sometimes it won't.

Thanks to this my official battery pack has got to point where it won't recharge at all after only 8 months. I've switched to a 1 hour Energizer recharger and AAs and find it far less hassle.

i leave mine plugged in at all times cause i really don't need a wireless controller. the only thing that annoys me is that i have to unplug the cable before powering down or else the console will go into standby to keep charging the battery pack.

i was using a charger and rechargable double AA's, but the energizer batteries i was getting would only last a few months before their lifespan became unacceptably short. and this was with letting them run down all the way/recharge all the way to help avoid memory loss.
