Wow, ebay Sucks (Even More Than Before)

No more buyer protection, and the new search template is awful; good luck trying to find anything. For instance, you need 2 klicks now to do a worldwide search because this option isn't directly available. It's also apparently no longer possible to directly search for auctions by private sellers.

And now all results are shown in your own currency on the results page...

Next up: It is possible to steal user passwords by including a special flash app in an auction. All you have to do is look at the auction and the seller gets your password. Ebay knows about this and ignores it.

Stolen accounts and no more buyer protection. That sounds real swell.

Nope, before now you could customize the search menu so you'd always see "worldwide" as a direct option.

Nope, before now you could choose to see the original currencies.

Btw, I just had another look and I really don't see a way to search for items by private sellers anymore (=to exclude commercial sellers).

Usually the horrible item descriptions and too-fancy-yet-worthless item pages turn me away, and that's assuming they aren't selling "second hand" goods. I remember one time I had like twenty sellers excluded from a search while I was looking for a controller, sheesh. Didn't find it either.

Found it. You have to klick on "buy" (on the left at the top), then scroll down to the bottom. There's an option to disable this idiotic new search and return to the regular version.

I bet Millions will never find this and ebay will probably disable it soon, forcing everyone to use the new crappy search which brings you lots of useless results and suggestions.

Yeah, it's funny how those new features and automatic suggestions that are supposed to be an improvement effectively prevent you from finding what you are looking for. Apparently most ebay users from around the world object to the new system but ebay just ignores them.

Again, it really is time for an international alternative to ebay.

You'll find you have to keep on opting out too. The current beta version is at least better than the one they were using 2 weeks ago, which used overlay windows and Javascript, which made some machines (including my 2ghz laptop) CRAWL trying to render it.

It's still shit though.

There are already a couple of local alternatives to ebay. For instance, in Germany there is hood.de, which is actually FREE to use for buyers and sellers (unless you want special promotion or a virtual store). There are currently 1,000,000 auctions running at hood.de, that's not too shabby. I bet that ebay's behavior will make more people in Germany give it a try. Too bad it's German only.

Etrian ( a "member" on here ) did this to me a while back. I had proof of postage and can prove i sent it out but just because he failed to have the insight to read my whole sales thread including the section entitled READ THIS BEFORE YOU PAY ME where it states.

if you require insurance you have to ask for it.

Did the guy honestly think i would send 3 3XL heavily custom shirts to the other side of the planet for 50GBP inc P&P and Insurance hell it costs me another 10GBP to just insure it.

Its the last time i will send anything outside the EU without insurance. I am a little wiser for the situation (it did cost me about 50GBP worth of stock and 50GBP in cash for the pleasure of learning the lesson though)

for all the horror stories i hear about paypal I dont think ive ever heard one where some ones said. You know what! I had some one try to rip me off and I came away with all my cash back and the guy got banned from ebay and its a great service.

Well from now on People will be able to avoid using paypal completley if they choose as im getting a E comerce and if your in the EU you can call me up and I can put it though a credit card machine

I agree with you..ebay has sucked for a long while now. I have been a member since aug '99 and have a perfect feedback record but I seriously doubt I will be buying or selling on ebay in the future.

Lordstar, sometimes keep sticking to picsiple and policy is no use. Especially when you are in a weak situation that you got an unhappy customer paid with CC via PayPal.

It would be wise to negociate for settlement right at the moment that the parcel is confirmed lost.

If you did so, I think you could get away with...

(Best Case) buyer and seller each share half of the loss.

Or, if that couldn't be reached...

you could still try to settle with refund only the goods' money, and keep the postage. (Still way better than CC charge back)

The point is if buyer filed for CC charged back, you WILL lost everything, i.e. the goods money, the postage and the goods of cause.

Oh, yes eBay is trying to fix the "overpriced shipping fee" problem by linking it up to the search priority via the "star feedback rating".

The sorting order of all searching results are now simply wrong, or I should say always order in the "search priority" of the sellers.

eBay even hide low "search priority" sellers' listings if the search result returning a large number of listings.

I got my search priority "Lowered" because I have below average score for S&H charges. But if everyone try to get above the average, very soon the S&H charged would be less than the actual cost.

I won't lower my S&H by the moment. I just want to wait and see if eBay could keep this changes for long.

Here's a complaint no one has voiced yet:

Back in May ebay offered a special limited promotion to some sellers in the US, offereing 5 "free" fixed price listings.
The add clearly stated "FREE" in a big bold graphic, but down in the small text, it stated your fees must be paid, and then they would be refunded in August.

So, now three weeks into August, and I have not had my fees refunded. Calls to eBay have suggested that the fees would be refunded by the beginning of August, then I was told "they should definately" be refunded by the second week of August. ...So I still haven't recieved the refund.

And furthermore, it isn't even a true refund, I am simply going to be given ~$10 in credit toward future eBay fees. Sure doesn't sound like "FREE" to me, more like "prepay for future use".

Way to fucking alienate sellers even more! Offer a promotion to entice more selling, and then don't come through with the advertised promotion.
Way to go eBay!!!

Here's one where some fake seller tried to steal PWs by redirecting a user to his own site "hub-bay" with its own sign in page that looks like the real eBay site. If you're going to bid on something, watch the address bar URL. Flash lets designers redirect a user's browser. eBay should probably ban Flash files or strip out any redirects that link to 3rd party sites.

A seller's account had been hijacked by some hacker. This seller (victim) did not make any of these auctions.

I haven't used eBay too recently, and probably won't be heading back there soon.
