Does turning on 2-Loop mode disqualify me? I didn't make it to the second loop.

There seems to be no difference between a 1-loop game and the first loop of a 2-loop game, so I'll add your score.

This game is hilarious and stupid. I love it.

spineshark - 2,095,680 - Stage 4 - Gain - 51/108 Items

I need to practice the Stage 2 boss so I don't have to bomb through it, and even more so for the guy on level 3 (hell, this is the first time I've made it up to him on one credit). Stage 4 is crazy overall, I ended up bombing the evil treasure chests then getting killed by the turtles.

This was my first night using Gain, before this I just used Karte, but I'm finding that I generally prefer him since he's stronger but still the right speed. I don't miss the homing options as much as I thought I would, but the sword is still a little tough to get used to, especially when it's red since it has a bad tendency to make bullets hard to see. I managed to collect all the food on stage 1 (which, since I still haven't nailed down the strategy, is unfortunately a relatively good run for me), as well as the Fairy of Woods and the Ruby, so I tried to not push my luck on the next couple stages and played it really safe on the bosses where I usually die. I still messed up plenty and should've been able to make it to the fourth boss, but it's not like that would've done me any good either. So not a great run, but the first that I'm not completely ashamed of.

spineshark - 3,035,090 - Stage 2 - Golden - 41/108 Items

It's looking like Golden is my best character. He's fast, strong, and I like his charge a little better than the big sword. It's pretty bad on stage 1 though, where I died twice this run trying to get the Fairy of Woods. At least I got it. =/ I had Shoes and Food before Busturtle, nabbed the Legend Sword, and got two Fairies of Wind from Dratrion before his main body section killed me. I really wish it was possible to destroy the wing-cannons.

I also need to work a lot on normal set collection on Stage 2. I pretty much never finish sets on stage 2, or 3 (when I credit feed through it), and only on Stage 4 with the treasure chests.

Are you picking up the pinwheel on stage 1? Right at the start, just charge shot the three goblins coming out of the forest with an empty bomb meter.

3M that early in the game is pretty impressive.

Yeah, only problem is the whole "dying four times before stage 3" thing. :P It's not too hard for me to survive stages 2 and 3, and I'm getting pretty good at getting most of the secret items, too...but both at once, not so much...

This is one of the hardest games I've ever played to play consistently.

I can never consistently finish 2 sets in level 1. There seems to either be to high a degree of luck, or requires too much absolutely flawless memorization in this game.

None the less, it's still one of my favorite shmups ever, solely because of the items and excellent, excellent bosses.

Ohhh, now I get how the pinwheel works. I had read it before but it didn't make much sense. It's kind of a pain! And it says a lot about my skills that I have so much trouble dodging things that don't move.

I'm already really bad at playing shmups consistently so the fact that I only get two sets on stage 1 a quarter of the time doesn't bother me so much.

I quit this game for a couple months, aside from playing a couple hours the day after New Years. I picked it back up about a week ago, and I think I've switched characters for the last time (since I sucked equally with everyone when I started up again). I would've just started with Chitta in the first place, since I like her shot, options and charge all the best, but she felt too slow when I was beginning to learn the game. Now, it's not such a problem, as long as I don't spaz around a lot.

spineshark - 4,016,500 - Stage 4 - Chitta - 52/108 items

I finished Food easily before the two dragons near the end of Stage 1, then managed to cough up the last Shoes item from the tanks right after them, too. I've practiced the Fairy of Woods so much now that it basically never gives me trouble, but when I got the Ruby too, all without dying, I decided to shoot for the Emerald and Mobichan, neither of which I've pulled off properly in real runs before.

I practiced Dratrion for quite a while this week so he's not so tough anymore either, but I didn't have the guts to go for both fairies this time. I just took one then scored the Emerald, again without dying.

On stage 3, not taking out the propellor thing right away cost me, though. I died twice trying to get Mobichan, but it did work. Not such a good trade, though. Rest of the level is pretty easy, but I died on Dribling and just bombed him to death.

Like all of my decent runs, this one ended at the chests on stage 4. I hate the ones that fight back :?

I also need to work more on finishing sets on Stages 2 and 3. I've gotten Staves a couple times, but never on purpose.

I think you're missing both the Dragonfly and the big chest on stage 3, they're pretty easy to get. Right after the two big tanks, you'll see a big hole on the ground filled with small tanks and turrets on the sides. Bomb the first part and the last part of this section and you'll get said items. Time it so you use only one bomb in the process.

I really need to come back to this but other games keep distracting me.

HOLY SHIT!

Image

Ruldra - 7,019,740 - Stage 5 - Grimlen - 85/108 Items

Had a x7 multiplier going. I could've broken 9 millions if I had some luck with the secret items (namely the ones you need an empty bomb gauge, I hate those).

I made a list of all enemy drops from stages 1 to 3 so now I have a general idea of who drops what. I can finish food, shoes and accessories consistently, with some more planning I can add more sets to my route.

I recall landshark saying the treasure chests in stage 4 will give you whatever items you don't have (including secret items) if the charge attack is used on them.

And even better, the chestmonsters will give you legend shield if you have 4+ bombs in stock.

Ruldra is correct. If you have 4+ bombs, they dump the 100k Legend items.

If you have less than that, they dump items you need.

It's difficult to get to this point with 4+ bombs though as you will need to clear the spider boss without dying (and potentially using bombs depending how many you arrive with). I can't remember if there are any bomb-charging-items on the way to the chests or not.

I've only gotten the items from the monster boxes once, and in the process I died via greed :)

Isn't the spider the stage 4 boss?

In Clover-TAC's Solo Bang video, I think I'm seeing Legend Shield from the chestmonsters (the ones that shoot) and leftover items from the regular chests. He has 4 bombs at this point (6 at the later section, but I can't see which secret items the regular chests are dropping).

Hmm...that's what the guide at World of Arcades said, but I just tried this and it's not true. I had 4 bombs AND an empty bomb gauge, but they just dropped regular items. I'll have to do some more testing.

Last time I checked, all the Chestmonsters drop all the Legendary Items if you hit them with a charge attack, but only if you've completed all the primary sets beforehand. If you still need items, then they will spew out what you're missing from your lists instead.
Not an easy proposition.
By the way, world-of-arcades has some pretty dodgy information for a lot of the Raizing games, so don't take the information on that site as gospel.

The thing is, I've seen them (only the ones that shoot back) dropping Legend Shield a couple of times, and I certainly didn't have all primary sets completed.

What stage? Because after a certain point in the game, that's all they tend to drop (after certain conditions are met).
Also, Rando mentions the stage4 Legendary Item spew-o-rama in the old score thread, same conditions: charge attack them, and they drop Legends if you're maxed out on normal items, or they drop the missing ones if you aren't.

Video proof: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F1SGNGD8

Notice that I'm lacking most sets, the regular chests drops normal items, but the chestmonsters are dropping Legend Shield. Apparently you need 4+ bombs AS WELL as the shield set completed. Makes sense.

Ack - my bad. Yes, the spider is stage 4. I can't recall the name of the 3rd level boss. Either way, it needs to be a nearly perfect stage 3 boss fight to keep your bomb stock.

I think you have to have 4+ bombs and hit it with a level 8 charge to get legendary items. I could be wrong :)

Give Karte or Grimlen a try. Karte has a bigger "luck" factor because her options home in on everything. Grimlen is a more surgical approach. He's really slow, but his charge shots kill things QUICK and it's a bit easier to get what you want in terms of item levels.
