RQ: ESPrade Chaining

Can someone give me a quick rundown on this game? I decided to give it another chance after after some discussion on it the other day, and am quickly remembering why I wasn't a big fan.

I can not, for the life of me, get the chaining to work. I know it involves the B-shot, but every time I use it, large enemy, boss, whatever, no bubbles appear, no timer appears, nothing.

Are there any other qualifiers? Do I need to be at full power?

Yeah, I read that. Don't see no bubbles, so I assume I'm doing something wrong.

They're not "bubbles," exactly, but rather the circular explosions that the B shot makes on impact.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense.

Still can't get the timer, though. Hmmmm.
