shmups.com has cause me to...

Post by ryosnk »

Since I found out about this site I have been in a shmups speeding spree. I was a fan before but having a community like this talking about a genre that I like, encourages me to look into it more.
I have bought the following games since I joined and I have been looking around alot.

Axelay
thunder spirits
Gradius gaiden
r-type final
r-type delta
sol-feace
viewpoint
philosoma
castle shikami
border down
truxton
thunder force 3
raiden project

Okay, if i were you i'd stop now and just start playing the games you have already, you have a few years of gameplay there. People on here get to hung up on owning every shooter avaliable just to say they have them , play/master what you have, tis much more worthwhile:)

Well the reason I have been able to get this games is because of garage sales, trades, and some deals I was able to find on local stores. I'm not boasting about it, its just that I have the shmup bug and that hasn't happen since the genesis and snes days.

Yes, I already had a tendency to buy too many games, especially shooters, but since I found this site I've been spending more than I should. I have to slow down and enjoy what I have.

That said, I can't really say that I regret any of the purchases (except Deep Blue  ). There are many games that are now among my all-time favorites and I would likely never have discovered them were it not for this site-- games like ESPGaluda, Neo Zanac, Harmful Park--- truly unbelievable titles!

Neo Geo, Mega Drive and PS1.

The NG version is the one to go. Stay away from the ports.

The PS1 port has been reported being extremely poor, but I never have played it. The Mega Drive port is slowdown-ridden, but otherwise decent. Why they messed up the controls in both the MD and the PS1 ports, which makes the game pretty much unplayable, is beyond me, though...

This site has made me a fan of the shmup genre,Started Importing games. Sure I played them years but I only had maybe 1 or 2 titles, now I really like the genre.

One time I wanted loads of titles and systems, but I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't have either the time or indeed the money to play most.

I'm alot happier with my decision and the games that I'll be spending time with.

So I've gotten it down to just buying some PSOne titles
(maye afew PS2 titles) when I have some money or the price comes down.

It was also ported to the FM Towns Marty, and it's pretty much identical to the Neo-Geo original.

This site has made me buying 2 consoles.

I think that if I had never seen this site in my life, I would not own a PS1 and a Saturn.

For SURELY I wouldn't own a Saturn (Which btw is my fav console among the ones I know now)

This site introduced me to Liksang and Play-Asia

'nuff said :D

I liked shmups before finding this site, but after I found it... I bought a whole lotta stuff. For many systems. I don't even want to try and recall all of it.

Try and resist the "BUY EVERYTHING WAAH!" bug. It's hard (I failed miserably  ) but you really don't need everything at once.

yeah, shmups always had been my fav genre ever.

Though back at that time, those dark times before this site, I used to call them just "shoot'em ups" :D

I remember how I got thrilled to know that someone had made a site dedicated to shoot'em ups!

It's also availiable for the Sharp X68000 computer, but you'll have a hard time finding that.

I have the PS-1 version. Its ok but I don't like View Point in general.
