Damn, I dunno if I can afford the paddle.

The game's still playable with the D-pad but I find it annoying that the paddle NEVER GOT SOLD HERE, FUCKING TAITO.

If you don't mind getting it with Arkanoid DS, I know http://www.videogamesnewyork.com/ has the bundles for sale. Course, it comes out to like 60 bucks with shipping if you can't just walk up.

Got this recently (DS, since I will eventually get the paddle & PSP rev got gimped on wifi) and absolutely love it. Talk about a modern remake done right! Love taking down an entire wave of enemies and the saucer in one swoop using the blue lazer. 8)

So far I like the PSP version better just because it's a bit easier to see what's going on, but the paddle controls with Arkanoid are superb.

I'll have to go with the PSP version too. I can keep better track of what's going on, and I'm having more fun. DS has the better Wi-Fi features and such, but I probably wouldn't have used them much anyways.

I got the DS version of this a couple days ago and I'm loving it. I'm surprised that the game supports the rumble pak. I like how the game uses the rumble. It rumbles along with the music. I'm not sure if I'm going to get the paddle. It sounds cool, but it's only used in one mode and I heard mixed things about Arkanoid DS.

The DS version of SI Extreme has the option to turn off videos and adjust the space between screens. I heard the PSP one can also be played without the background videos. I don't get why the PSP one is missing features. The lack of single cart for that version makes no sense at all.

lol, that's your solution right there. do you realize that the paddle makes those dive-bombers a lot less of a problem? getting to them in time to take them out before they strike becomes trivial with it, since travel time is practically eliminated. i think the game was designed with the paddle in mind really.
Neh, I really still dont intend on using it for that.

The movement, to me, is just fine as it is.... same way it's always been in the series. I've no issues with that at all, really. I was used to it long before this particular game came out.

I really only play in Ranking mode anyway, since that seems to be the play-for-score mode.

I dont wanna make things easier anyway..... I love a challenge :)

Arkanoid and Space Invaders Extreme arrived in the mail today from Amazon. Now I can put that expensive paddle controller to use…

Got both versions because I'm a indecisive dick.

I couldn't care less for the paddle con; I'm one with D-pads.

I've been practicing individual stages, because I don't wanna do Ranking, screw up one part, and restart.

I find it sad that the DS version has better music and more things while the PSP version, despite being on a system with more power, gets the same shot/explosion sounds across every stage and more recycled music.

I looked on the online rankings and was stupefied at the top scores. 33 million in Normal and 1 BILLION in Extreme. How are such scores possible?

It's simple: hacking the game.

If the spread between #1 and #2 is by at least 10 mil, I call BS on it.

Not sure if anyone's already noted this elsewhere, but it looks like SIE is coming to XBLA at some point. As are Metal Slug 7 and a handful of others that should be discussed on other threads, heh heh.

LOL, what? Why would anyone prefer owning it on a non-portable system with a terrible D-pad?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Heh, right now I'm trying to top MathU's score. ;)

I give you credit man, braving 5-C. I've been down that path... never saw the boss though. Only on 5-B.

Same here. I still haven't seen the boss on 5-C or 5-D. I've beaten it on 5-B though.

Yeah, 5-C is just sadistic. Waaaaay too many of the "kamikaze" invaders. And it always starts off horrible for me as I hit that one wave in the shape of a W, with the straight down kamikazes on each end and exploding invaders in between. I ALWAYS forget and die there, and then its just an uphill struggle from there.

Picked this up for $10 (after some freebie $10 best buy card I got in the mail) a little while back and finally cracked it open on a plane trip this last weekend. Quite a fun little distraction. My quick eval is Space Invaders X meets Puyo Puyo Fever. I thought Space Invaders X added some neat stuff and it's nice to see that it was not only retained but perfected in this release. The fever mode is way fun and a nice novelty to keep you playing the game. I cleared Route A on the plane, so I'm looking forward to the rest :D

Oh shit!

OH SHIT!!!!!

Just 1LC'd this with all S Ranks and ended it at 5-C. I can confirm that the final boss has a SECOND form on 5-C... and my fucking thumbs almost fell off trying to kill it.

Broke 10 mill in the process as well!!!!

Is anyone still playing the XBox 360 version of this game?

It seems totally random to me if the scores are uploaded on the leaderboards or not.

A few days ago I beat the game with a score of 12.1 millions. That would have gotten me on the 3rd place in the alltime leaderboard. But it still shows my old score on 6th place with 9.3 millions.

Today I just played the first 3 stages and made 7.3 millions which should have placed me on the first place in the weekly rankings. But again the score doesn't show up.

Anyone else have this problem and is there a way to avoid it?
