Console shmup demos..........
This might be a tough list to compile, but I was looking to know what console shmups had a demo version or appear on those "sampler" discs from way back in the day.
So far I only know of:
Interactive CD Sampler #7: Einhander
US Playstation Magazine 76: R-Type Final
Can anymore name more?

Squaresoft did release a demo version of Einhander on an earlier issue PSX demo disc of U.S. Official Playstation Magazine (OPM) back in the day. I still have it to this day. ^_~
IIRC, I do recall of a single stage demo of THQ's version of G-Darius on a OPM PSX demo disc as well.
Some of Sony's Playstation Underground demo discs had cool PSX import demos to check out like SNK's Metal Slug 1. I e-mailed SCEA once to ask if they were going to bring it out to the USA. SCEA said they were considering it at the time but that it never came to be. I, naturally, had to get the JPN region import of SNK Metal Slug 1. It was worth the asking price of 2,800 yen for it. ^_~

I know G-Darius was a single stage demo on one of the OPM discs...I'll see if I can dig it up this weekend.
Edit: This site says that G-Darius was on disc #14 and that Einhander was on disc #8.

Some info on some of the main Amiga shmups in demo form. I compiled this from stuff on the amazing Amiga Magazine Rack, which has almost every page of every Amiga magazine ever scanned in, plus an amazing database, search facility, and cover disk info!
Apidya:
Amiga Format 61 (Jul 1994)
Amiga Concept 5 (Jun 1994)
Amiga Power 39 (Jul 1994)
Amiga Action 59 (Jul 1994)
Amiga Action 32 (May 1992)
Agony:
Zero 30 (Apr 1992)
Amiga Action 28 (Jan 1992)
Project X:
Amiga Power 12 (Apr 1992)
CU Amiga (Aug 1992)
CU Amiga (Dec 1992) (Save State)
Banshee:
The One Amiga 68 (May 1994)
Amiga CD32 Gamer 8 (Jan 1995)
Amiga Power 37 (May 1994)
CU Amiga (May 1994)
EDIT: Sorry if these don't count as 'console', but I guessed that the word being in the thread title was there to distinguish against arcade and freeware etc? Anyway, the Amiga's a console in my heart! Still, I can edit this away if needed.

I used to own a copy of a Japanese Sega Saturn Thunder Force V Rom. It comes inside a CD case, no manual or back insert. It was sealed though. I don't know its content because I sold it without opening it.

Playstation 2 (Japanese):

I can confirm that it is the U.S. OPM demo discs #8 and #14 that the respective Einhander and G-Darius single stage demos are on. I was hoping that Working Designs would release G-Darius instead of Toy Headquarters (THQ) but THQ beat them to the punch for exclusive American PSX publishing & distribution rights.
