Gun Frontier...

What's the difference between Gun Frontier, and Gun Frontier: Arcade Gears?

Also...how much is Gun Frontier for Saturn really worth? I'm not too keen on the thought of spending $70 on a used copy.

I think "Arcade Gears" is just a series of arcade ports that came out for the Saturn...PuLiRuLa and Wonder 3 were also subtitled "Arcade Gears."

That said, I don't know if there are any major differences between the arcade version and the port...I doubt it'd be much. As for the game itself, it is quite expensive, and while I only played it briefly I don't remember liking it that much offhand. As always, though, one man's trash...

If you're paying more than $40-$50 you're getting ripped off. It's a fun game, just don't expect a challenge.

Yeah, I really dig Gun Frontier and DID spend the money for it (almost no other way to get it), but it probably isn't worth that for most people. It is old and crusty with huge hit boxes and a weird look and feel.

That said, I really dig the weird look and feel--it is afterall the main influence for Battle Garegga. However, it is an easy game with no 'hard' option.

Easy game? You msut be referring to the Saturn port, I managed to drop a fortune in virtual quarters playing it on MAME.

It's one of those odd games that is much, much harder to find than the real top $ titles, but actually doesn't sell for all that much. Like Blast Wind. $40-$50 sounds about right.

Umm, fun but not amazing. I still have it because... well, just because really. I rarely play it.

Yup, the saturn version is made easy by super fast auto-fire that can very lethally point-blank bosses. It would probably be a good idea not to use it--but it is hard not to.

If you're interested in selling it, let me know.

I think I would actually like the Saturn version if it is a little easier. I mean, the arcade game is extremely cheap and difficult...it took me a while to beat that last boss(damn spinning shield things!), after dropping probably $50 of virtual quarters to get there. Thank goodness for MAME save states O_o
